The text appears at insanity 2 which doesn’t require you to be on Akurius keep.
Coming back to this- I went into the sea with insanity 5 (I saw that there was a bug where eating food that gives insanity before entering dark sea stops it from killing you, and wanted to try it out b4 it was published). There are more messages (though I don’t know if these were from previous insanities, or from insanity 5). I don’t have pictures, but they included: You feel a strong urge to kill, you feel as thoughyou are sinking, you hear a voice shouting in the distance, and you taste iron. i also got struck by lightning in the sea so yay me. messages from yourself become more frequent, the screen becomes like impossible to see constantly. also- fake map markers.

you missed a symptom on insanity 1
“Phantom Messages”
you will get a new message from (name) where name is your charachter name
and if you open it it causes a effect but still no dammage
Like I said, I wasn’t marking down insanity 1, I was talking about 2 and 3.
but yet the flames are apart of insanity 1
honestly i love the insanity effects so far (makes fishing more interesting) straight up cant wait for the dark sea
hence why all my foods are spiked with Cursed Mushrooms
F-Fishing? What are you doing while your fishing to be losing your marbles? Do you just pop a shroom?
i mean you have to make it atleast somewhat interesting

a interesting idea for dark-sea fish is to halucinate the catch indicator so instead of a red ! it is a Purple !, but the only way you could possibly tell when inverted/blind is that your bait count goes down
