agreed
ok letâs get one thing straight: image generation IS STILL creativity.
just because the process is different doesnât mean it lacks the same essence
as Iâve mentioned before, creativity & art isnât bound to traditional mediums or methods, itâs about expressing ideas, emotions, perspectives etc etc. AI image generation is juuust another tool in the artistâs toolbox (not that I consider myself an artist, yes? drawing-wise) like photography, digital painting or sculputre.
honestly, the key is the intent behind the work, if ur guiding ai with a specific vision in mind, youâre still being creative lol. this is a vital point many of you just missâŚ
buuut, if weâre STILL going to dismiss this beautiful, uncanny portrait of neviro as ânot creative,â then weâd have to dismiss countless forms of modern creativity.
what about artists who use algorithms or code to create their works, or someone who uses pre-existing materials to create something entirely new?
creavity is practically about HOW you make something, not what you use to make it.
also, âsubjectiveâ means that it varies on the subject (e.g, what I see as creative might not seem creative to you, despite what I literally just explained )
yeah can we kill this guy with hammers
baitusedtobebelievable
who
Everyone here
me too
The more the merrier as they say
KILL WHO
what are you talking about
So logically speaking, we shouldnât be thinking of doing something about it at all? If thatâs the case, then donât complain about it being too hot outside. Ever. Youâll begin to see why that idea falls flat pretty quickly.
A.I. image generators form themselves from being fed analog (human-made) pieces, oftentimes against their will, whether it be from spontaneous ToS updates or random announcements from a company head. Judging by the way you think of A.I. generators, Iâm going to assume youâd say âJust delete everything and go to a different site,â but thereâs not a lot of good places for artists to go. Twitter, while losing users because of a fucking nazi being in charge of it, is still used considerably by a lot of people, so itâs one of the best or better places for an artistâs followbase to be. Instagram is the same story with a different face behind it.
Bluesky is probably the only decent place, since it wonât force-feed an A.I. your posts, but itâs smaller than Twitter, and will likely stay that way for a while. Bluesky is also basically pre-HIM Twitter, so itâs not a full upgrade, either.
Even if itâs not a problem from a companyâs idiot being a companyâs idiot, thereâs a lot of people who scrape sites individually to feed their own A.I. system. If youâre an artist stuck on a larger, A.I.-happy site, youâre screwed. If youâre an artist on one that would rather shut down than implement it, youâre still screwed. No matter how you slice it, A.I. image generators steal content for their own gain.
This also works against your argument that A.I. is just another form of creativity; youâre guiding a machine that stole work to make itself to basically trace said work into a different form. A similar argument would be calling yourself a chef by putting extra salt on a restaurantâs steak, or by calling yourself an artist when you commission work from somebody else. You didnât make it, but youâre functionally taking the credit for it.
Thatâs⌠still the artist coding to make the art⌠also you arenât USING tools in a sense the tool here is REPLACING you because IT IS doing the art for you
Also you are deconstructing your own arguement with your own words, you MAKE something with anything as you say is the definition of creativity. you are not making something here.
no⌠just no
Iâma put it straight to you:
90% of people here do not like AI and posting AI art here was a bad idea.
Getting jumped was an inevitability lol.
There was absolutely no way you were getting out of this without being berated.
Iâm also 100% certain you didnât make the image generator that created this Neviro arcane odyssey (which by the way, would actually be something creative by your definition unless itâs that stupid and vague) so lol
Can we kill me with hammers too
I only care when AI art looks bad, and I think this is way above usual for AI
Thatâs not to say you arenât asking for trouble if you share AI content on the AO forums.
I just think itâs interesting to see an interpretation of Neviro in a realistic style, frankly.
I can see why weâd want to avoid setting this as standard, but itâs not becoming a problem or anything.
finally a normal person
Ehh I still think youâre pushing it.
what the fuck is this
I only care when AI art looks good because it shouldnât be capable of fully replacing artists.
