(AO ending spoilers) {theory} will we maybe learn to cast spells via our souls at some point?

my reaction: you cant use vindicator

last time i checked, there was a god tier (which was then changed to awakened tier) that allowed the user to use attacks for that element without magic circles

twas WOM
basically lesser curse user
not soul casting

counterpoint: i have 10 of them

but the magic literally becomes apart of their soul

so in a way, it’s indeed soul casting

(nevermind, it just becomes apart of their body not their actual soul)

I think the gods used circle magic, but they have their own “god-tier” that gives their circle magic similar effects to a sea curse, like instantaneous casting speed.

…You might actually be on to something. Not exactly about the “primitive magic” thing, but the idea that we could be inheriting an ability from the God?

Tech actually revealed something about Gods’ abilities and how it applies to their “legacies” when he was just casually explaining why New Greeks can create stuff without magic circles (this was before WoM got revamped)

What’s more catching is this:

Seems to rely on willpower

And MC is considered the “strongest willed of ALL legacies”

So in other words… MC might sercetly be a powerful waterbender? Lol. We know Poseidon gave us something, so maybe it gives MC even more control over the element.
I don’t think this will be an ability that will be easily acessible all the timee like our magics and stuff, might be cutscene and story exclusive.

…Wait, we might be facing some curse-users in the next sea, some way too powerful for the whole gang to handle, and their weaknesses is the sea…

Wait, is this how we fight some of them before we’re powerful enough? MC gets angry and accidently drowns them in the ocean? Lmao.

Now that I think about it… Tech did also confirm Poseidon can create storms, meaning MC can probs do it too… and funnily enough, there’s an anomalous perma-storm over Dawn Island and MC seems to have coneviently passed out from something before waking up with amnesia…

Crazy theory: Did MC cause the storm on Dawn Island? Something they they can only do because of their strong will, which was why Poseidon sees them as the strongest willed of all legacies? Food for thought.

i think we are linked to Poiseidon in someway ( my personal theory ís that we’re a legacy off Poiseidon, Morden a legacy of Hades and Tucker a legacy of Zeus ) but i doubt we will, at least permanently, gain Poiseidon’s storm and water manipulation

if our protag has set powers, id believe it, but MC’s power is whatever we choose… which might leads to some conflicting moment

i do believe that we might temporarily gain those tho, maybe in a cutscene ot a mechanic or a specific fight

Yeah, I think it is pretty made clear we are linked to Poseidon, that we are his legacy/descendant. But with Tech’s statement, makes me think that MC in the story will also gain control of water, of course not to the same extent as Poseidon, but still be able to control it regardless. There is a reason we did get that blessing from Poseidon too.

MC isnt quite a pure “self-insert” kind of character that you think they are, as they do make a lot of decisions that are independent of our choices.
Plus, our relation to Poseidon isnt even a choice, its something set up as well.
MC is customizeable, names and magics, and we do have some control over their personality trhough dialogue choices, but they’re their own character most of the time in the story. We don’t have full control as you may like to think.

So them having some ability like that isnt out of the question. And yeah, it would definitely not be accessible all the time like our normal magics, etc. Just something that occurs through cutscene or maybe even some key spammer moments (like those ones during AA’s magic clash or something) during story

water mages being the canon route

Tbh, it might not be since if what Tech said in 2020 still applies, Water Magic might be somewhat useless in the long run for MC (Another screenshot I have states that the New Greek people still has to rely on actual magic for magics that dont apply to their lineage, so theres that).

So it might be anything BUT Water (or if they do get water, they replace that with a lost or ancient later on canonically lol)

i just wanna become the avatar

“sweet, let replace the power of God of the Sea himself with some lame-a$$ magic!”

I think what’s so fascinating about the gods is that we really don’t know much about them and their full nature- nor the extent of their full capabilities. (Exception for making the Sea Curses, but that’s solely Prometheus’ feat.)

How long have gods existed compared to humans?
What made the gods?
How can the gods reform themselves?
Were the gods aware of Chaos and it’s role as progenitor of magic energy?
It might be a stupid question. But what does being a god actually mean in this universe?

How would the soul have an effect on casting a spell as opposed to drawing a circle in the air I wonder. Seemingly it’s more powerful but why?

What is the nature of the soul?
Is it our lifeforce given etherial form?
Our personality?
Our mind and memories?
Is it static or malleable?

(I don’t have any answers. Just throwing out food for thought. Keep being lore nerds :seedling:)

i think the best bet we got is taking most things from greek mythos then lol, not like we got anything better

stupidly strong beings probably or beings with unexplainable abilities ( wills of god )

they just can :+1:

interesting questions actually

i considered Chaos but destruction is its entire gimmick so most likely not

maybe Creation then?

you putting your own life force to do spell, make sense why it would be more powerful

normal magic uses magic energy from the enviroment and from the body, but a mages body can generate and store magic energy on its own

meanwhile life force/ soul is, im assuming, a limited thing, once its gone, its gone for good, which is why the user’s lifespan is massively decrease
