i think his relationship with his kids r really complex (he still has one more from his second ex-wife.) he cares abt his kids despite abandoning em. if their lives were endangered hed save them in a heartbeat, but the idea of being there for them, for taking responsibility everyday and being a father figure wears him out and makes his skin crawl. he always itches for adventure so thats why he abandoned any sense of stability and domesticity, including his ex-wives and kids. but yeah he cares for em, in his own distant way
