My problem with crystal is that it’s kind of… slow?
And while it does have the potential to outdamage even metal magic, that potential is extremely inconsistent… also, magma clears crystallized, a very common meta pick
it does? news to me, but tbf the slow argument is pretty solid because it gets outsped by 13 magics
is it bad if i say its not inconsistent though? speed of ur build and you are rolling, all crystal needs is a fourth hit
A speed build on crystal can be strong but a speed build on a magic such as plasma (what I’m currently rocking) is far more lethal as plasma already benefits from having consistently devastating damage and fast speed, along with general utility in being able to clear bleed and most of the cold catalyst effects present on stun mages
This post was more or less just a curious hypothetical, I’m pretty happy with what I currently use

but by all means, do what you want, im about to switch to crystal and was just giving my thoughts since i saw this post
Crystal mage can be very busted in pvp, especially with spells slightly altered for more hits while having barely any difference in time (ex, 1blast->2blast w/ dex) to better stack crystallized. I remember during my days as a basic warlord pre full release fighting against three notable crystal users: one was a cannonfist warlock with absolutely amazing gamesense, another was a crystal basic that took me throwing out regular warlord movement abilities for a cursed combo of sunken sword (which got sent to the depths in fr), scimitars of storm, and a phakin bronze musket. I only won twice out of 10 duels. Lastly, there was this crystal light mage who very nearly killed me in the overworld, stacking enough crystal on me to make ormolu fucking blush.
So glad they separated attack speed into dex and range. Prioritize dex over range, but not by too much if you do build it.

no fault to crystal, like i said its awesome, but i want a more oppressive magic to use and methinks itll fit right in with my style rn (earth)
