because temporary progression holds more replayability, i was thinkin sorta like roguelike mechanics, maybe theres some special island that could spawn that you could get some kind of blessing from or smthin like that, that would work as an upgrade for the rest of the run
Ah so you’re thinking about turning the dark sea into some kind of dungeon run? That is interesting, but I’m not sure if that can work with the current system where the dark sea seems to lean more towards multiplayer endgame content (dragons, omen, future epicenter plans, etc). I would like to see something like that for solo players though, and perhaps the dark sea sky islands they plan on adding can work like you described.
eh, only real way i could think of progression that wouldnt end up getting boring really quickly, since the problem with giving permanent progression is that once you have it, youll never really go for it again, a temporary progression system would give replayability, and for the most part it would kinda just be adding one or 2 new types of islands that introduce the mechanic of getting temporary buffs in the dark sea
im interested in what you had in mind for permanent progression though
Add a warning before tornados spawn and a general effect showing where they will spawn so you have time to get out of there. Like a weak funnel cloud.
The main problem with the dark sea atm for me is that you can just get blasted by a tornado before you even know its there.
a forewarning before you actually start taking damage gives players a bit of amnesty.
Also make it so they don’t spawn within damaging range of your ship if its docked at an island since you can just get blasted for no reason. Thats not strategic, its just getting screwed over for no reason.
Ok, I’ll put that
helloo, i wanted to know what kinda permanent progression u were thinkin
I was thinking about some kind of “dark sea exploration” profession, where you gain exp from doing stuff in the dark sea. I made a post on the AO reddit titled “The Dark Sea: potential vs design faults, and how to fix them”, where I outlined some of the issues I have with the dark sea. If you’re interested, check it out. I’ll probably eventually post some of those ideas here with more refinement after I get the suggestor role.
