Sure, but those DS dangers usually have nothing to do with ships themselves - they’re all on land, and the Omen is barely dangerous anyway. If the other two planned Abyssal-tier monsters will be added, then a new ship will be fitting.
Also, I want the ship progression to branch. I want more ship types that don’t have to be strictly better or worse than the main cast. Gimme da gunboat!
We’re going to get all of the ‘main’ progression ships then the sidegrades down the line. Thats the plan at least- and I think it makes sense. Adding new ships is a lotta work, and people aren’t going to necessarily be hyped for an extra one to two weeks of dev time spent on the redwake longboat as a sidegrade to the Ketch we’ve already outgrown or something along those lines.
Where I want more branching stuff is ship parts. We have a bajillion armor pieces for our characters but there’s barely more than one unique ship part per ship slot.
Pretty sure just candles and rams have multiple unique pieces.
i think each sidegrade ship should have something unique about it to make them more interesting and useful to use
for example the redwake longboats should use oars aswell as sails, using oars with the sails down allows for slower and more articulate movement which would be perfect for traversing places like the jaws
Do you think that Frigate will likely be the final ship that is considered an direct upgrade from previous ship
i believe that has been said before yes
later ships like the galleon will likely be much slower but have many more cannons and higher durability
