Tech doesn’t help with the story anymore, it’s Xxael and Vetex now according to Astralworks I guess.
He still has credibility since technically everything he said during the Ript situation is true (More so because he actually has direct contact with Vetex and his team) so I’m more inclined to believe him on this I guess. Also apparently the story and everything that needs to happen in all the seas are done, all that’s left was actually implementing them into the game which means including coding, designing, and creating the narrative gameplay, characters, and bosses.
Ah so Astral meant it literally that he barely touches the story, not that he doesn’t help anymore. Though to be honest I like Xxael’s way of telling the story since Chapter 9 is actually peak writing in terms of Arcane Odyssey’s quality, albeit quite short.

Yeah it’s action focused but compared to previous chapters, everything in chapter 9 actually makes sense and doesn’t feel forced. When it was just Vetex and Tech doing their thing, it feels like the player is just doing random stuff and going with the flow then suddenly everyone just started trusting us and go along with it as well.
Chapter 9 is the first time that I felt an actual direction for the story where everything has a good reason to happen, plus the dialogues are somewhat more human since this part of the story feels like the characters are really “talking” to each other and not just reading off a script.
Chapter 9 had a notable story? I just remember us raiding fenrir, ivor calling us a skill issue and that’s it.
Maybe a bit of lorewriting here and there? Or thinking of ideas for the lost magics like I did since they haven’t been fully thought of
It was way better than previous parts though since the bar is pretty low rn
I guess it was pretty short so I’d wanna see a longer chapter to really see it.

The assassination plot onwards is a downward spiral and character assassination of allanon
Which considering the complete difference the two halves have. I could see the argue that both halves were written by different people
i dont think what happened to allanon counts as character assassination, he was hit with the disease that makes people angry and irrational and he became angry and irrational
but yes i agree chapter 8 is the best chapter so far and i dont CARE what people say, infact id argue chapter 8 and 9 are top 3 story chapters so far so hopefully chapter 10 continues the streak
Rather than poorly written, it was poorly executed. I agree the lore in chapter 8 is good but how chapter 8 was made… Let’s just say that it was trying to compress everything to make them shorter, which in turn the narrative suffers. This chapter just felt like it was Vetex getting fed up with the amount of chapters left that he still has to code when he wants to do other things, so he had to cut corners just so he can say there’s more chapters to the story.
I’ll agree with Chapter 8 still being the best. Chapter 9 falls into the port mistral for me it’s to short to care
Chapter 8 would be better if mage skin was said NOT to make you irrational and blood thirsty if fact keeping your wits but just more prone to anger. It also makes the grey ones looks very, bad, now.
yeah my biggest gripe with chapter 8 was that it was too short, it definitely would have benefitted with it being longer and more indepth, which is ironic because its the longest chapter in the game so far
Allanon having more time into his decent of madness would of helped too since right now he does a complete 180 within like a hour
i can understand his crashout against lucian but to go straight to genocidal that fast is crazy
