While no technical source if you use logic saving is entirely tied to timeline manipulation. it only exists for the person with the most determination which is Flowey. using it to heal is logically bringing yourself back to a healthy state. In undertale yellow (not official but follows logic) flowey heals you by reverting your state. if he can’t manipulate time then it knocks out all saves as he can’t even see rthem
