Crazie's NPC Randomizer

Hello all! I’ve been working on something recently that I wanted to show off:

NPC Randomizer:
I was asked by a friend to make an NPC randomizer for a certain build showcase, and I kinda got overexcited and made more than just what they asked. Now I’m adding on to this basically everyday and wanted to show off some of the results I’ve gotten from it!

I’ll continue to update this with more accessories and stuff over time.
I’ll link my showcase so you can look at the randomized NPCs if you wish.

That’s quite nice, I can’t wait to see what this’ll turn into.

A few questions though

Are NPCs server or client sided?
Is there a way to randomise them again without having to rejoin?

they are server-sided, and right now its just based on when the game loads. i’ll probably make some sort of voting system to where if enough people vote, it’ll randomize the npcs :nod:

I’m impressed that you managed to get in a full NPC randomizer, even the eye colors. Must’ve taken a while to get those done since you’d need to match the irises to the base eyes.

Also pretty interesting they can have hair combos unlike AO, though I assume this is more of a player appearance generator

Though admittedly, many of them generate looking a little strange, it’s definitely cool to see a fully-randomized NPC. The accessories and colored titles are a nice touch too.
I’m noticing their clothes seem to be tinted the color of their accessories? And the titles appear to be the same color as those as well. It’s more noticeable with shirts that have parts that are normally white like the suit.

Yeah I though making the accessories and clothes being the same color would make the outfit more cohesive, same with the title. Also I completely forgot about the shirts having a white underpart I’ll work on that soon :mariomug:

Also I’m noticing the lighting is a bit harsh on the rigs, might make it a little less harsh.

They are supposed to be climbing up the side, but I haven’t made any of the anims for the random rigs :frcryin:

do they like… move on their own or?

I wish, although pathfinding/set paths would be cool :thinking:

Useless comment regarding the name of the this pre-generated character

Iron Steel…
Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, said source of carbon varying from metalworker to metalworker.
Why is it iron that was specified, and not the carbon’s source?

anywho, I’m working on giving the rigs some animations (might make them randomized too if i make enough of them) and I’ve realized I have to go in a roundabout way to fix the undershirt color issue so wish me luck :smiling_face_with_tear:


I’ve been kinda lazy + had a lot of schoolwork so I haven’t been doing anything with the showcase. I did make a new animation today though that the NPCs can spawn with. I’ll try to make more stuff since I’m on break rn :smiling_face_with_tear:

Oh, make sure to give me suggestions for new stuff btw, I’ll probably be more inspired to make stuff if someone gives me the idea for it!
