you pay galleons to get more galleons for a risk that you might lose them all if your ship sinks (normal cargo trading without switching servers/seas)
if you just have an option to load them into your cargo hold from the get-go, whats the risk in that?
get attacked? reset (both character and the cargo buying thing) and leave
ship gets attacked? just leave
you arent losing anything by loading it directly into your cargo hold
its just way to overpowered to be ever in the game
the 7 second load time isnt a suitable balance method, it makes the whole process tedious and annoying to do instead of risky
i could literally sell everything in my inventory, buy sameria cargo into my cargo hold, leave and teleport to bronze sea, sail to ravenna and sell the cargo, then do the same thing again (or if youre in the navy or ass syndicate, its even easier, just load into the game, spawn the ship and start unloading)
which generates me enough money buy back all my stuff, give the trader a tip and overpay, and still have like 50k galleons left
oh so just like normal cargo
I said this before in another cargo thread but replacing a poorly made system with another poorly made system doesnât fix anything.
with normal cargo atleast theres a risk to it and its fun the first time youre doing it
with your method its just
- spawn ship
- buy cargo
- stay there for 1 hour to wait for the 515 cargo you just bought to load in
- probably fish in the meantime
- maybe get ganked
- maybe complete a trade or so
- if not discuss some game mechanics with a friendly player
- watch everyone leave
- catch a sunken
- âoh hey its finally finished loading.â
- head to main menu
- go to bronze sea
- sail to ravenna
- unload ship
thats just really boring imo

ok then how about we just abolish cargo and do trade goods instead
functionally the same as cargo but with flavor (frostmill would have packed ice, redwake would have cured meat or sharkskin, ravenna would have bronze, palo town would have⌠sand idk), and instead of payout based on how far you are from its point of origin, you get payout based on how far you are from any civilization that sells that trade good, forcing you to think about where you wanna push your trade goods to
letâs say hypothetically both sameria and frostmill did packed ice. it wouldnât be efficient to just haul from sameria to redwake anymore, since packed ice would have super low payoff in redwake given its proximity to frostmill. youâd have to consider what trade goods you wanna buy and where youâd wanna sell them
you could also even have trader/pirate/assassin ships drop random trade goods on defeat, or find them in the wild a la dark sea chests. like youâd just find a crate of tools on sandfall or something at random, and you could just pick it up and put it on your ship and sell it somewhere
maybe some items would be âin vogueâ every in-game day or week and worth a lot more than they usually are to reflect a changing economy (think like the economistâs chart from aa but more complex)
something like this might require way more civilized islands to work in a way thatâs actually interesting but i think itâd be way cooler and more interesting than just boxed generic-ium labeled âfrom frostmillâ

Thatâs a pretty interesting idea Iâd say you should make a suggestion out of that one.
It could also work with kingdom alignment in some way.

if you think of a suggestion thats super obvious, check if its been suggested a million times before
