There’s no defense here for Xxael that could work. The custom isn’t being used to defend themselves, they aren’t being hunted, and they’re actively preventing the natural order of clan servers because of their actions. This is blatant spec abuse, moreso than any other event yet posted. I wonder just how many instances of this go unrecorded, left only in the memory of the victim.
I assume this will only worsen until Full Release, as that’s the only time in the near future that customs could get removed. After this incident, they should. At minimum from Xxael, preferably from everyone save Vetex and Tech.

Honestly that is quite fair since they were only given customs as a countermeasure to people hunting them down.

It’s not abuse for them to use their exclusive content, it wasn’t a high stakes situation, and they weren’t toxic about it.
You should have enjoyed the opportunity to fight them. Shouldn’t whine about pvp unless it’s to reveal a reasonably imbalanced part of the game.

maybe not for xxael or whoever, but they interrupted pvp between two groups that they had no affiliation with for no reason whatsoever. additionally, they weren’t being hunted or anything of the sort, so i think it counts as abuse

It’s certainly abuse, especially in this situation. A developer, given a custom magic to deter players from harassing them, intentionally prevented an infamy hunt for the sole purpose of their own enjoyment. They had no reason to be present on that server, or to be on that ship, or to protect that clan.
Every PvP encounter outside of a duel is at least a medium stakes situation. Infamy was at stake, and while Xxael did not cause any loss, they interfered with the fight and attempted to help one side. This alone isn’t abuse - the problem is that they used their custom magic in this encounter.
I cannot begin to describe how obnoxious this statement is. Who, in their right mind, would enjoy having their hunt ruined by a developer that can and WILL two-shot you? I certainly wouldn’t, and it seems that most players would share the same opinion.

Here’s how I would resolve the situation:
With the addition of the PvP toggle, they no longer need custom magic for the purpose of defending against constant unwanted PvP due to being a target. I say let them use it as a skin for whatever other player-obtainable magic they choose once the PvP toggle is in the game. They get their shiny reward for helping, they won’t need to worry about getting hounded all the time, and there’s no way they can abuse power even if they wanted to if there’s no power to abuse.
If it’s true that xxael is abusing the power he currently has, and this isn’t all out of context, take it away until the above is added, and give the wronged parties an arcanium item with xxael’s magic as compensation.

With the sheer amount of salt I’m hearing I’m just not going to reply directly. There’s no way to talk down people this upset about something that does not matter so I’ll take my leave. If I were in the same situation I’d be mildly annoyed at most is all I’m saying. Take a damn chill pill guys, it’s not like you were banned or something. I’m fully aware of the situation you were in. Also don’t recall third-partying PVP being against any rules.
Anyways I’m removing myself from the conversation here because I know how this is going to go.

this isnt abuse because xxael used their custom to defend a friend from getting ganked. this is why they got custom magics in the first place

didn’t they get the customs to discourage getting ganked themselves, not to discourage ganking anyone in a sever with a custom user in it?

Staff can, and WILL have privileges that normal players do not, no matter the game.
