-waves/lightning: honestly i dont mind them too much. maybe make lightning give a more clear and longer indicator of where itll strike
-rain: true, if the server’s rain is bugged it automatically makes ds much more comfortable
i think they should add some sort of brig marker (similar to a party member marker) for massive islands, since i forget where my brig is a lot of the time
Water poisoning: only hell if you get it in combat, I don’t remember if that can still happen. IMO it should just disable regen if in combat
Waves/lighting: lighting got hella nerfed so I’m pretty sure you can’t even die to it unless you are like 20% health
Rain: whatever, visibility is a whole different problem
I haven’t gone exploring since the three(?) agility nerfs but usually you can fine a tree or make a small wall hole before it kills you, worst case you lose a few minutes since you have to make it all the way back to your ship if you need to descend a sky-splitter
Water poisoning dot is not balanced for in-combat whatsoever since you lose most of your regen and you’re also taking atlantean damage, outside of combat it’s fine
My biggest criticism is the size of it. It wouldn’t be an issue if:
It was a separate instance
Via this separate instance we can log off whenever so long as we meet one of the conditions:
Out of Combat (Consequence → Injury which reduces max HP)
Ship isn’t currently being damaged (Consequence → -15% of ship damage)
Docked Near an Island (Prevents percentage ship damage when logging off in the sea; -10% durability)
With these things, I don’t really care too much if it takes literal HOURS to sail around. You wouldn’t have to do it at once, but if the Far Reaches takes an hour, then it takes an hour to get back. Meaning at minimum, in the late game, we’re sailing for around 2 hours.
it’s 99% easy and 1% random bullshit that will just end your run no matter what
Agreed, by the time you get to the far-reaches, roblox is literally starting to break down. You know those old roblox games where you could get flung soo hard your character would start shaking and distorting? Yeah, it starts happening there on a much smaller scale, just stand still and watch your character
Water Poisoning only applies to characters soaked in rainstorms in the dark sea, or hit by waves, this can be counterracted by avoiding waves that submerge your ship
Lightning
While annoying, Lightning is infrequent enough that as long as you stay moving, you can avoid fatal damage (unless you’re in the middle of a fight and already low health) to avoid limb loss and extreme bleed, wear a piece of visible armour with vanity turned off
Waves
Stability stat on ship parts, that’s literally it. 75%+ is a basic requirement
Rain
If you’re having issues with the dark sea fog/rain, clearsight potions are insanely cheap and easy to brew. If you’re /still/ having issues, you could have a friend propped up on your mortar or front crow’s nest of your ship to spot islands for you
I really agree with all of these except maybe Waves… I think most ship captains are aware of the DOT waves and they try to avoid them. Of course BS still happens cause sometimes they just spawn 1 inch in front you… (Stupid Far Reach wave)
Water poisoning I do still hate though… Sure its magic but why prevent us from exploring and looting? Isnt that what the dark sea is all about? I suppose its maybe artificial difficulty…
How to fix Water poisoning problem
Just remove RNG Aspect of it by make sure there are bar meter you can tell, if it full you will get water poisoning and you can Reduce the meter by washing inside captain quarter
As someone with visual impairments, the dark sea is also just awful lookwise- specifically, the bright flashes of sudden light (,please for the love of god, add a seizure warning or smthin) and the black on black whirlstorms.
Why do those exist? I do not know.
The sheer amount of visual clutter is also just straightup bad- especially the amount of rain infront of the camera at all times. Why so much? Why so many? I shall never know.
Another thing vetex could maybe fix: The sheer bloody noise everything makes. Hell, i am sometimes not even IN the dark sea and still hear the waves and lightning bolts from miles away.
How is that even possible? Why does that even happen?
Also fix the giant white eye spawning why are there TWENTY-
I also think that time is slowly becoming and issue for the dark sea… As of now its OK but I feel like loot (Or just DSDs!) Spawnrate should be buffef maybe? I feel like we have to spend so many more hours in the dark sea compared to anywhere else…
I can see this being a problem when more things are added like the dragons. I feel like the outer ranges (2, 3 and 4) are just so far away that even when we will be ready for them, theyll be so long and far away it might not even be worth it
Maybe they could be shorter? I think this does exist with the nimbus sea already… It takes like 5 minutes to get to I1. Maybe the ranges are just shorter and shorter depending what sea youre on
Whilst i agree with your criticism dark sea is still the most fun activity in game rn so id prefer more pressing issues to be addressed before this one.
