Most people don’t even gank new players there is legit no luck gain, they most likely wont even have loot, and even voidwalkers can only gank you at like power 15 so basically thats like complaining about WoM because people can gank you when you turn power 40
However this is different if we are talking about rogue lineage in which that case yea i agree fuck that game it belongs in the depths of hell itself
Rogue Lineage wasnt for everyone, but personally, I feel like there was something unique about that game that made it fun.
Yeah, the fear of death, but thats what made each and every single character special, the desire to play to your fullest, adrenaline pumping, to make sure that this story would not end by your hand.
The community was awful, but in that awfulness was where its greatest parts shone.
Roleplaying, people banding together to risk their lives and finding out the mysteries of the map, the many lore events and interactions with lore characters (which were just admins who loved to roleplay) that made it legitimately feel like you were part of the world that, just like reality, could be gone in an instant.
The game went downhill after it stopped getting updates, but the memories made last forever (unless you get dementia). That fear of death, and the constant dying by others, only made freshies band together, and risk all of their progress just to improve.
While Permadeath is generally a bad thing, the fear of that is only just an internal reflection of reality, and thats what made RL unique. It showed what people were willing to accomplish even with everything on the line.
Rogue lineage was bad because of shit game design, while i actually agree with the permadeath thing having its own charm actually because of fear of death and the lore events were cool the game design was some of the worst shit i think i’ve ever seen, its really no wonder why vetex doesnt like deepwoken after playing rogue because even though they aren’t any similar besides permadeath now, if i even remotely thought that deepwoken was going to be like rogue i would probably never touch it. Im sorry i get the whole “the game is supposed to be difficult without little to no handholding thing” but making the game near IMPOSSIBLE without having assistance or being a greasy tryhard that has spent like 20 hours looking at the wiki is a big turn-off. Players are encouraged to gank and while i normally don’t care since, well, it is a combat game so ganking is apart of the experience it kind of gets annoying when you just start the game and some hyper-sigil-god mf ganks you and there goes one of your lives. There is a bunch of other things like bullshit requirements for some paths (some actually encourge you to gank new players), the meta being extremly unstable, and the rampant issue of moderation being some of the worst on the roblox game scene honestly ruined the whole thing for me. Glad that deepwoken learned from those mistakes and is much more different from it now
