Sure would be a shame if said exploiter was stupid enough to announce what they were doing after they did it, letting their username be known.
(as another thing, I wonder what all of the people saying “its a pirate game you are meant to steal from people” are doing now. Surely they are not avoiding playing, that would defeat the purpose of playing a pirate game in the first place)

How scandalous! These so called ‘exploiters’ have halted the hunt for hours! As much as I want to shuffle back to my Brig, I refused to risk my scrolls being pilfered in the mere daylight of the sea!
Alas, the problem may be fixed now, but I am still weary…
