Do you like Client-Side pvp in WoM*?

@Vetex Before you ban me for pinging you, can you explain the pros and cons of client side and server side stuff.

You can also use a simple google search.

I did. I found an article by Valve about how to make a server-side thing. But Vetex, Meta, and pretty much everyone else seem to be in favor of client-side. I know Roblox is a special case because of how the engine works so I was hoping that the autocrat himself could weigh in.

The majority vote of no just means they don’t like PvP in its current state. It doesn’t mean they think server-side is better, as you said:

This explains the decision pretty much. If the game had server-sided attacks, you would have higher ping and slightly less bad hit detection, but because of ping there would still be some moments where “i hit him but it didn’t deal damage” or “i got hit but didnt take damage” would happen. So client side skills are ultimately better.

I don’t know where this whole cult of “client side spells bad!” started but yall are some clowns. It would have pretty much the same issues except everyone has higher ping, its not a solution. Every online game with pve/pvp has an issue with hit detection regarding ping, its just some have it less common than others. Even in WoM, its not a very common issue (or maybe it is and I’m thinking about AO idk I forget if its worse in WoM or not)

EDIT: also I forgot to mention client side attacks are more exploitable which is a downside, but theres some pretty easy fixes to this that are already in WoM + its easy to catch and ban people that exploit it. So it doesn’t really matter.

i swear people think that current pvp is bad, but it’s much better than landing 5 hits on someone and having only like 2 register like it was in AA.

You’re grossly overestimating the amount of hit-reg issues server-side would bring

WoM’s case is shit since I consistently don’t see attacks hit me much more often than I see them hit me but I’ll have to see how it would look in AO

Well, there are two answers but there are four dispositions. You could be apathetic or be neutral and have a lack of preference for client or server.
