Assume that you understand the language used by the nearest settlement you appear at. Where do you choose to go?
Yes these are all worldbuilding things I have put varying amounts of thought into
- A world of limitless ocean which expands out into the stars, with four “continents” each only a little larger than New Zealand and collectives of islands all around. Each land posses its own magic system tied to the arts, and the ocean radiates arcane energy from its depths. Technology is approximately equivalent to the early 1700s.
- A singular continent, thoroughly explored and built upon by kingdoms and empires, watched over by six gods whose magic permeates the universe through the stars. North lays the Frigidus and Celeste, savants of the arcane and technology respectively, south lays the conquering Inferni legions, and in the center lays mankind, holding no expertise yet still claiming the vast swath of land between empires. Technology is approximately in the mid 1700s.
- A grey desert situated around a boundless mountain in a land of bone and blackpowder, inhabited by souls unfulfilled in their prior lives, forming both law and chaos as men and women find themselves on this frontier where Death can be cheated with nothing more than dice or a silver tongue. Technology is approximately in the mid 1800s and wow I’m beginning to realize that I really like this period for some reason.
- A collective of small worlds, fragments of liminal spaces traversed by wanderers, their former lives forgotten and their memories displaced into bottles across the realms. Lands of subways, halls, painted forests, islands in space, and more are accessible through portals, and not a soul is stationary, including you, fated to travel and see wonders. Technology varies, though includes things up to the late 1900s and early 2000s.
