Full Release Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread) (Part 2)

God Vetex is so annoying ! Look at how good and well thought out that feature sounds ! What are we supposed to criticise about it ?! Does he want the bait market to collapse ? Does he want this thread to go banktrupt ?! Truly and irresponsible dev smh

absolute peak

I realized I have to test the feature but gotta wait 5 hours to flick it off or on every time.

:frcryin:

Surely vetex can just temporarily set the wait time way lower for testing

Can’t testers set these kinda values in the test menu? I’d assume it’s just a boolean

Just take a plane to a time zone 5 hours ahead.

i imagine the value is a unix timestamp set to the current time every time you switch the button and it stops you from pressing it if the time since you’ve last switched it is less than five hours. so testers could probably just set that value to 0

or maybe idk what im talking about and the testers who actually need to know this will have a guide on how to test it

I think that would take more than 5 hours

and if it’s based on unix time that won’t work (unless it gets unix time on the client for some reason. that’s probably something for a tester to check)

the pvp toggle does have a confirmation so no u cant accidentally misclick it (it tells u it has a 5 hr cooldown), and the 5 hours tick down regardless of whether or not you’re in game

Then 5 hours have passed. How was my solution incorrect?

Unrelated but I really like how active partcline is in the devforum and how descriptive his patch notes are. It’s nice to see some of the more technical parts of the game. (I would kill to take a look at AOs game file and see how everything works, I feel like I could learn so much)

you have to pay for internet on a plane, thus making the overall time spent in a certain pvp state longer (unless you pay for internet access)

there are a couple of things i would like to know

  1. how does that sunset and sunrise thing work like what
  2. how does the water work? i kinda assumed it just drew water below a certain y level but there are caves in islands below the ocean
  3. the dark sea islands look remarkably normal for something that seemingly just uses templates and random positioning
  4. how enemies actually get made (all my systems for them are generally pretty horrible)
  5. how hitboxes in this game work

there’s probably things on this list that really aren’t technically impressive and things that are really more deserving of a spot but those are the things i could come up with off the top of my head

  1. There’s a property in something (idk Lighting?) called Time
  2. No, all caves below sea level are flooded
  3. irdk
  4. irdk either
  5. probably not actual hitboxes, instead the game detects a hit on the individual parts/humanoidrootpart

Problem solved, just pay for internet access and a flight to a future time zone in order to test more efficiently.

  1. this does not automatically make a sunset for you
  2. i guess i was right
  3. which you need hitboxes to do…

Love the casual reminder of why Redwake is one of my favorite islands
