Fair point, I might be worried about nothing. I just spend a lot of time goofing off in game, and now that time goofing off may or may not make bank depending on my fleet.
then just play that file, you dont need to maximize the loot you get on every file to have fun

Wrong.
Playing on a different file is not stopping you from making a fleet on that file.
Much like many of the other mechanics in the game, nothing is forcing you to do it, but it is very beneficial if you do.
To me this looks the same as when people complained they had to do treasure charts when modifiers were added.
No you don’t but it’ll help you if you do, you were getting by just fine without lol.
The only thing I’m unhappy about with this system is that I’m gonna have to feed atleast one of my deckhands to it…

anyways the cost of maxing out multiple files has been significantly increased making it far more difficult for you to play optimally across multiple slots
this is fair, but modifiers are more easily accesible and don’t affect how you play the game, unlike fleets, which incentivise playing on one file specifically

This is true but its not like we’re short on coins.
If anything I’d argue that the fact we’re going to be heavily investing in this means that the returns will likely be even greater.
