General forum consensus on deepwoken

because it turned into interesting discourse before spiraling down like this.

I guarantee no discourse about roblox games is interesting enough for you to be so invested that you feel the need to tell others to go to PMs, go read a book or smth

It’s still a pretty interesting conversation between two sides that hasn’t devolved into a screaming match with the sides throwing insults at each other (much to my suprise when i’d found that this thread had nearly 50 new posts and growing). Nothing’s been derailed, and only a few bumps here and there. It’s overall a more tame discussion compared to other ones.

There’s probably something to learn here.
Admittedly I represent an extreme view on the topic and I know that.
I hate taking half measures.

Ngl if I get the time after I’m back from Vegas imma do a full deepbound vow of thorns prog (not speedrunning just having fun) without ever logging to players to see if the ganking is just being overstated since I’m the type to just prog in overworld anyways and by the time I’m in the depths I’m confident I could do layer 2 if I get jumped anyways.

tried it again, got ganked 3 times in 10 minutes

still hate it

I mean my biggest problems with deepwoken are:
1: High stakes actively detract from the game’s fun for me (permadeath)
2: I hate forcing high stakes onto other players and taking things they earned (permadeath)
3: There’s nowhere else to go on this god forsaken platform (or anywhere else that I’ve looked) to get a game with this style of combat and progression at this kind of quality.

The next best alternatives for games like it I can find are Verdant Moon and Skyrift for entirely different reasons.

Someone else mentioned this but you can’t steal anything actually valuable(enchants and what you’re currently using), if you get ganked in the depths it was purely because they were an asshole

(Or they are a contractor but if it was for contractor prog you won’t be wiped)

(Legendary weapons exist but people just put them in the bank as soon as they get them and even then they aren’t that valuable unless starred)

This is what I’m talking about because that made up a concerningly large amount of my experience in deepwoken, and by the sounds of things from other players here, that hasn’t changed much at all.

It just caters to and enables the actual worst people in the community and that’s awful.

If I win I feel like shit because I just set somebody back and they need to repeat a bunch of grind.
If I lose I feel like shit because I’ve been set back and I need to repeat a bunch of grind.
Like I said earlier, that is the mark of an awful game.

If I wipe someone who jumped me I’m ecstatic because they always run like hell the moment they get low and they were enough of an asshole to jump me for no reason in the first place

There’s also discord servers to jump people who gank in the depths I think the Blindseers discord server does it too

I feel like Voidwalkers were a good way to practice overworld pvp at lower powers. I used to never do overworld pvp until void walkers and I got the hang of stuff now.

Powers 1-7 are mostly dogshit, beyond that it gets more challenging and people on power 17-20 are when I start to really struggle.

I just don’t think stuff like this should be necessary to begin with.
Why does the game need to cater to and enable asshats that get enjoyment solely out of taking it from others?

I don’t think it’s catering because they gain nothing, it’s just another way to play the game which we may hate but I think it’s fair since with equal powers it’s still a relatively equal fight and with lower powers (if you’re in the depths at low powers you gotta be experienced) you’re able to just avoid the fight entirely by jumping into the void and using the ignition exit out of layer 2 (doesn’t need any fighting).

At higher powers you need to actually do layer 2 if you want to dodge the fight cause no way you still have the ignition deep drill exit

It’s the same way bounties are just annoying in AO when you’re not someone who’s actively trying to bounty hunt

I never got that far and never delved into the wiki enough to learn that (a problem all of its own)

Basically if you want to avoid getting killed after getting jumped, immediately jump into the void in the depths Do not cling onto a wall while falling

If you were above 50% hp (basically nothing can bring you below 50% hp insanely quick from depths gankers without it being an insanely obvious move) then you’d get sent to layer 2 (you also have to be like above power 2 or smth it’s not a high power req)

Then from here you could probs google the ways out being the ignition drill (1 time use iirc but you don’t have to fight anything) or just beat chaser (defeating floor 1 of layer 2, this isn’t that reasonable unless you’re already power 13+)

This is all assuming you’re in combat and couldn’t just log cause logging would save you the hassle

What I don’t like about deepwoken is if you didn’t absolutely minmax your build with shrine of order, you’re at a disadvantage

That’s every game though, if you don’t minmax you’re at a disadvantage. Applies heavily to AO too

Not as much, in deepwoken your build is set in stone due to stats being unchangable and SoO
