The way Perms work is incredibly predatory, because without them the game promotes build permanence, which gets boring fast from the fact each fruit has ~5-6 abilities.
The game is nearly impossible to enjoy or even play F2P due to the sheer amount of grinding it takes to get to max level without gamepasses
Not to mention the millions of cases of consumer fraud that was committed with the wiping of paid gamepasses, that was poorly “compensated” for
Ignores older content and only focuses on newer content
This can be seen by the fact that first sea graphics have not been updated to the standard that third sea graphics are now held at
No narrative, story or lore
You have to buy a boat every single time. Shows a lack of QoL
Only allowed one save file unless you play on an alt
The Devs are only motivated by money and it shows
The lack of updates shows they are lazy
Only adding new content instead of improving old stuff
The Devs know that they will get loads of money no matter what so they don’t care about improving the game.
The game is incredibly unbalanced and had no specialised team to balance it
The pvp is incredibly basic and is virtually “who can press 5 buttons the fastest + who has the better aim”
The game itself is very basic and doesn’t have that much gameplay features
The main way of earning exp is bandit beating
The game is insanely grindy which keeps people playing it for long periods of time
The game promotes gambling which keeps people hooked with gambling addiction
The game is practically the perfect money making machine
Now, to prove that i am not a hypocrite, i will take each and every single one of these points and disprove that they apply to arcane odyssey
Arcane Odyssey is not pay to win at all. One of Vetex’s main goals is to make sure that gamepasses do not affect gameplay
Arcane odyssey updates their old content regularly. For example:
Updating Magic VFX
Improving weather
Weapon skill note system
Arcane Odyssey is a story-focused game, which has in-depth history and a full document full of lore from the other games, which provides context to Arcane odyssey
Arcane Odyssey does have QoL problems, but they are being addressed and there are less of them every update. You do have to cut it a little slack since the game is fairly new.
You are allowed three free save files in Arcane Odyssey, and can buy up to nine if you want more.
Vetex is motivated by his passion for game development, quite clearly shown in the high effort game
Arcane Odyssey can be unbalanced at times (again, its a fairly new game) but it has a whole team of dedicated balances to perform changes that make the game fair for everyone
The pvp is quite complex, with many factors such as:
Reaction time for dodging
Balancing armour stats for builds
Aiming for attacks
An opportunistic combat system
Now, the ao pvp community does have its own problems like toxicity, but at least pvp is more fleshed out
The gameplay is complicated and takes a bit of effort and reading to learn, along with having many different ways of doing things that make grinding actually enjoyable such as:
Treasure charts
PVE
Bounty Hunting
Diving
Exploring the Dark Sea
Cooking
Brewing
Jewelcrafting
Armour Building
Exploration
Magic is nearly fully customizable in Arcane Odyssey, unlike the 5 abilities per fruit of Blox Fruits

you forgot the part where the devs just make empty promises and ignore the community unless it gets them in serious trouble (like what the dragon incident has shown) and that the game is literally infested with scripters and exploiters
there could be an intentional reason, such as the sunken cost fallacy
you paid cash for the boat, so you might as well use it/grind some more to ‘compensate’, adding to the pay count
this could also be a reason, intentionally restricting the player so they use alts which boosts the algorithm
is it a good or bad thing that 2 of these are mine
also add this in:
there’s more variety in ao enemies than in blox fruits enemies
I can think of exactly 1 enemy (gorilla king) in blox fruits that uses a non-m1 attack, and it’s literally just a grab whoes hitbox is an aoe around the enemy
but its so badly coded that you can just hold a move key and you might be able to leave the hitbox before the attack ends
