National pride is predicated on whether or not anyone feels their nation to be worth having pride in. As of right now, that is not the US.
I do love my country, I do love it, but it’s very hard to feel proud of a war in the 1700s when it somehow led to our current situation.
depends on who you are and how you feel about it
The fireworks blew up in our face last night
Didn’t stop us from having fun
Risk aversion for the sake of extending your lifespan by a few miserable years is a pretty shit way to live your life imo
sure, unless it impacts someone else’s life by idk increasing their risk of developing cancer by a bunch, in which case you’re just an inconsiderate prick
The health risk posed by firework smoke is dwarfed by almost every other aspect of our society such as our eating and transportation habits
Now if you’re shooting off fireworks in a dangerous manner or location (such as in a forest prone to wildfires) or late at night on any day other than July 4, that’s when you get to inconsiderate prick territory
fireworks were banned in my local area after 2 old people ended up getting a heart attack from them, they are definitely dangerous to the elderly and to pets
july fifth will be southern italian freedom day
Recorded some fireworks, some blew up quite close to me
im probably at risk for hearing loss by age 50
The 4th of July is really just a way to see if your neighbors have any form of patience in rural/suburban Illinois; people here just start blowing shit up a week or two in advance most of the time.
Happens here in the southeast too
People really be blowing their entire social security check on fireworks ![]()
This is completely normal as far as I’m aware, and it shouldn’t be.
4th of july topic turned into firework debate this is cinema
Ok nerd if you refuse to love the country you live in then how does one muster the will to improve it
spite
Spite for what
Sadly, regulations do not stop my lobotomite neighbors. They still set up an entire artillery unit to assault my ears.
this year my family got a bulk pack of little ground fireworks, and the first one was way more chaotic than expected, and everyone was way too close to it, so it felt like we were about to get in an accident
The worst part, every single other firework in that pack had the same gimmick of really loud and bright rapid popping that just assaults your senses, so we just made fun of them until we ran out.
mfs thinking they’re the imperial guard
- going up close to see a firework display in detail
- getting a vantage point in a big city and seeing distant firework displays in every direction
