making this joke reminded me that during that cutscene Poseidon absolutely does give the player something so who knows maybe we all canonically have some kind of funny external curse.

No, Cursebeard is a supercurse user because he has 4 curses naturally.
Absorption curse doesnât count. Theyâre just able to use other curses, they donât truly become one with them.

absorption curse and supercurses are functionally identical except absorption does it better.
I doubt Poseidon in his current state is anywhere near powerful enough to make anything on the level of a curse, Prometheus was pretty amped up on aurem juice when he made the curses

Not necessarily identical, I donât think an absorption curse user has access to the intangibility/elemental phasing ability of regular elemental curses
i remember in arcane adventures the devs had super powerful magics like aether (vetex) that no one else had.
thats really the extent i can see this suggestion going while trying to maintain some sort of ârealismâ toward the lore, where potentially the developers contain the curses, since there are only a limited amount and they disappear when the curse user dies.

I wouldnât think so. I imagine the absorption curse to work like having the curses as tools. Not actually melding their mind and body with them, but instead just storing them for later use.
