Thats with both boosts and chance game passes
I forget the normal chance but i think its around 1/1 million
Lul yeah I just play LL for the story… its oki
Maybe I’m a little underappreciative of AO’s drop chances
Only game on roblox ive played thats not entirely reliant on shitty drop chances to maintain player count
Except sunkens fuck sunkens
I use to play GPO! AO has lovely droprates
Door-in-the-face technique? Start off with a bad/unlikely offer, then show a better one to make it seem better in comparison.
(Also the foil to the foot-in-the-door technique)
I do see this reasoning be used a lot in some very average grind games as a reason why players should be appreciative of drop rates/luck odds. I’m pretty sure this reason is a fallacy of some sort, since things don’t suddenly become better if some other independent thing is worse.
Now I kinda want luck weekends in the game. Maybe just luck 1 or 2.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like luck weekends because they are a pretty morally questionable way of increasing “player retention” (basically a euphemism for inducing FOMO in the playerbase). But after being blessed with a taste of permanent luck 3, I kinda want just a little bit of it back.
Considerimg i got an acrimony upon sinking an armored pirate brig, I agree with these statements
big agree with all of this stuff. luck 0 is miserable
but the point is that 1/10 is not bad odds in the first place, a 10% chance per kill of a boss to get optional gear is pretty damn good regardless of any other games being worse
I mean ehy, luck weekends would definitely make me play the game more, that’s for sure.
Although I’ve become pretty immune to FOMO thanks to years of gacha experience, so I can’t speak for everyone on whether it would benefit the game more or not.
I guess it would also lower the player count throughout the week itself, since most farmers could just resort to farming in the weekend (I don’t play the game enough to actually know about this so feel free to correct me).
actual farmers probably don’t care cause they just chug a luck potion before selling their dark sea haul
Personally… i think luck potions as a concept… are… goofy… and bad…
It’s not that bad, but with the respawn times and the fact that this isn’t a gacha game… it’s a bit rough. Sometimes I don’t want to sacrifice my entire weekend just to take a step towards a pvp viable build.
My luck is also pretty questionable, since I killed argos like 10 times during the luck 3 “event” and only got one shitty drop.
ok so my claims about how drop chances are not that bad apply to everybody EXCEPT argos, vetex made the shittiest decision of his life and made argos’ spawn time 2x longer than literally every other boss for no reason
My luck only comes to Atlanteans… I always get their modly skin as a drop but i dont use insanity
I had a gut feeling that the luck buff wasn’t actually applying to everything. I made a bunch of jewels during the event and with Luck 3 I’d expect to have a pretty high shot at getting the maximum or second-best secondary stat boost, since Luck 4 guarantees the max. Didn’t happen that way, though.
i thought that was a glitch?
That is a pretty interesting thing to note, because it might actually make the player count less spread out. Since you are adding an extrinsic reason to play the game (more luck for the next two days!), it might make people who would normally play the game consistently only play over the weekend, thereby reducing player counts and “retention” as a whole.
Though, some players (like me) just don’t play the game very much (due to lack of content as an example), and in cases like these it would increase player counts (just sporadically). So something like luck weekends may have positive and negative impacts for “retention” as a whole.
Reminds me of the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and a study that made groups of students draw art for differing rewards.
Now I kinda wanna make a topic asking the forums how much they play the game and why they do so.
I’ve seen my fair share of messages stating that they don’t actually play the game that much, so maybe there is some merit to the idea that PvE content is lacking.
