i like the idea of shadow applying a “binding tendrils” effect that just restricts the target’s mobility
Making the 4th fastest magic give an overall movement debuff to the people it hits, what could go wrong?
what I’ve seen people say for a new shadow status effect:
decreased energy generation rate, both passive and active.
decreased movement speed.
more effectiveness for the visibility debuff, something along the lines of making the shadow user harder to see?
increasing the effectiveness of other malignant/evil status effects (bleed, poison, etc). increased duration, or maybe increased tick speed / damage but reduced duration proportionately, or vice versa.
reduced stamina regeneration.
now here’s a spicy take: nerf shadow slightly across the board so that people won’t cry when it gets an actual status effect.
gonna say it again “solid stats but no status effect” is not a “good” or “interesting” gimmick for a magic.
other magics have similar or better stats and get actually useful status effects.
I wouldn’t be against nerfing shadow’s damage to 0.9x or 0.875 in exchange for a deadlier effect ngl
