I don’t think most headcanons are like that, it’s just most headcanons that blow up are controversial or political in some way (aka LGBTQ stuff).
I’m now wondering if “X energy” is from a stereotype of how a group of people are. Because I guarantee not all lesbians have bright exotic hair colors, and Iris never even brings up any preferences whatsoever. So It all seems like some form of extrapolation from a preconceived notion of a group of people, or from the posters own experience interacting with a select group of people.

For the same reason as to why you’ll see ‘diversity’ in the main cast of a show, that being to make all characters ‘special’ in their own way by assigning a bunch of different tags on soulless husks instead of actually developing unique characters.
That or the kind of people to make or share their headcanon is the kind that’s obsessed with anything LGBTQ for one reason or another (which is highly unlikely, but I’m biased as I’ve only seen individuals like that share their ‘headcanon’).
