Well true, but ehh its already treated like a cold magic in lore so we might aswell roll with it
water feels cold because when it evaporates off you it takes some of your heat with it, so it does make things cold, even room temperature water will do that

if you touch anything that’s colder than your body temperature it will feel cold 
the moon is associated with the ocean, and it parallels sun magic being flame-like

because room temperature is colder than your body temperature
water only feels especially cold because it has a very high heat capacity
as a result, water hotter than your body temperature will feel hotter than another substance at the same temperature
water magic is most likely room temperature though, it’s not gonna be 37 degrees or greater
that temperature isn’t a property of water though, so it shouldn’t be considered a cold magic
then why do we call ice magic a cold magic? why snow magic?
