Ofc this negative-minded Wikian is the only one to have something negative to say about well crafted animal models.
I have played with the bears for over a month now. There is nothing jarring about them. If you have not been on the forums, complaining about how sharks have looked, you have no leg to stand on here. If you are fine with sharks, then these animals are around the same. (Not directing this specifically at you MrYes)
Xeno has worked very hard and has gone through multiple iterations of the animals to get where they are now. It’s a little annoying to see people be so pessimistic about their inclusion. Every animal in this game has a non-blocky model & texture, I can’t see why this would bug anyone that the land animals are literally just following the same pattern as every fish in the fish journal + the sea creatures.
Really, don’t worry. Its hard to see it just on the models alone but they work in game, trust.
I love the animals, they’re extremely well-modeled. The only critique I had was something that’s completely understandable to not do, because it’d be extremely difficult (modeling every strand of fur instead of making it a flat texture).
Xeno’s work is awesome, and I was extremely happy seeing him rise from a fan creator to a professional developer for the game. He doesn’t deserve to get done dirty like this.
Lots of valid points, tbh I’ve gotten so used to sharks and I’ve never had a problem with how they looked so it’ll probably go the same for most people with the new animals
People have a right to their opinion. If they don’t want animals (either for one reason or another), they have that right. Stop insulting StockSounds for an opinion that isn’t harmful.
Next, I propose for a very specific creature to be added: I want capybaras. I don’t know how, but I want them. I need my cappyblappy in AO. I want to tame him and take him with me.
In case you couldn’t tell, I love them.
Also, some life could be added to the world with domestic animals around in towns and major locations. Cows, pigs, cats, dogs, etc.
TBH I don’t like these because they are too realistic, and at least for me that break immersion because on one hand you have blocky robloxians on on the other you have RTX5090 blender models of animals.
I feel like fantastic frontier does animals really well because they fit the overall theme; i.e blocky.
Man, the modeller is great, but when it’s animals, at least when they’re shown like this, I just think it’s offputting. It’s not my fault, I love the idea of animals in AO.
