im not a satanist but i do know a little bit about it

most modern day satanists are actually cool people who see satan as a symbol of resistance to arbitrary authority, rather than the embodiment of evil. they even use their status as an official religion to campaign for LGBT and abortion rights among other things

I mean, the key difference here is that, typically satan is portrayed as the worst of the worst in terms of bad guys.

I mean, he is locked away under a frozen lake, underneath 8 other layers of torture and misery, in a completely separate dimension, that only awful people are sent to in mythos, so I donā€™t think heā€™s necessarily a role model to look up to.

From what I understand the reason ā€œsatanismā€ exists anyway is that itā€™s basically like the rebellious teenager of all other beliefs, but I just personally find it a bit distasteful, though if you practice it, I have no power nor do I care enough to tell you to do otherwise.

the dude is supposed to represent the human capacity to do evil/depraved things and I find it kinda, I guess, cringe? to have a belief named after satan, it feels like whoever came up with the concept had some kind of fallout with their christian parents and went on 4chan to vent their frustrations or something.

most satanists dont even believe that satan is real, they see him as a symbol of liberty and individualism. they have their own beliefs that are different to Christianity and you shouldnt really be calling it cringe
