The only reason the combat is so bad rn is because balance team insists on nerfing every substat to the ground so the only stats worth running are power and defense, killing build variety

The hp per level increase barely helped, people just started running more power so more defense too

dexterity = casting speed
my idea = charging speed (charges the attack way quicker)
unless… dexterity also makes you charge moves faster
I don’t think the way the player moves needs to change at all if poise breaks are fixed and hit detection, parrying & blocking, and melee combat were just significantly optimized and improved honestly. We don’t need to force mechanics from better games into AO we just need to make the mechanics currently in the game better and if they can’t be improved then remove or replace them with something better. Further complicating an already somewhat poorly performing system does not improve the system it just introduces more bugs and complicates the issue. Removing core features the entire game is built around can be just as destructive if not worse.
Example: If you’re making a cake and it comes out way too salty do you A, add less salt next time, or B, remove salt altogether and substitute it with garlic powder?
… You can also blame the customer…
