AO’s immersion is capped by roblox’s crappy servers, it just spoils the whole game
All the Leaderboard players are gonna be midgets lol
Eeehhh, I don’t really feel like the MC is a character in the world, nor does the world really feel particularly believable. I mean, here we are in what’s supposed to be the 1800s with clothes from the early 2000s, language varying all over the place, and one-note NPCs who appear out of the void and disappear back into it within minutes.
Oh, and other players. The feeling of immersion is crafted by feeling “separated” from our world. By adding an aspect of our world that can communicate and impact us, the immersion is diminished. Global messaging, ganking, and all the other nonsense players do make this even worse. Especially given that we see everyone’s player name rather than their character name.
6 outta 10; Just a step above mediocrity. The bonus comes from the environment and the existence of the newspaper and the barest hints of culture.
I should clarify that this is not my overall game rating, just how immersed I actually feel into the game.
Thats pretty funny icl
2/10 lmao you’re telling me I’m supposed to feel immersed in a game where there’s clans called “goofy goobers” and “UwU paw pirates” and I see whales and shit flying around in the sky in every server I join
Not to mention how buggy the physics get sometimes when climbing my boat and I get flung to the next sea cluster for hitting my head against some weird part of the railing on my brig
right now, probably a 6/10, but yeah i agree, future updates will probably make it feel better. definitely the whole kingdom alignment thing.
i’m gonna be tiny as hell with a high agility build and just zoom past everyone
i mean to be fair, all i can really think of that’s from more modern times would be like, hoodies and sunglasses and whatnot, but looking it up, those things have been around for a while too.
Sunglasses were made in 1752, hoodies in the 1930’s (so only like, 100 years off), and other than that, there’s not really much.
plus, i won’t be complaining when more customization is around. if i can be wearing a hoodie 100 years before i should be able to, bite me.
this is fair imo. i don’t see why it can’t be where their game name is over their head in big text, and then their roblox username under that in smaller font. (like uh… twitter handles or something i guess?)
this is a fair point, but there’s not much Vetex can do cause roblox is just a buggy engine (from what i’ve heard. i’m pretty sure vetex said he’s tried fixes but it didn’t work that well, i could be wrong)
same story i think. this is more funny imo though until you wind up losing 100 sealed chests or something. (my boat flung away while i was looting a Ravenna Sailboat i plundered and i had like, 30+ sealed chests )
but yeah, my vote still stands at 6/10, probably up to 6-7/10 with the Alignment update. the skill notes and whatnot helped immersion too, and just more versatility and customization in general helps as well.
more clothes will be in the next update, and with the new ability to remove a chestplate’s arm or something, that’ll definitely help out people’s customization, and maybe bump up immersion some more.
flying whales and sharks are canon, trust me bro
game years are recorded since magic and they started at 100 ad so game rn is in 1950s-1960s irl years
i can say this game takes place 60 years ago
you should see some of the one piece pirate crew names
60 years from now??? No way we were sailing on ships 60 years ago
You try inventing electricity when people solve all their problems with either magic, violence, or both.
can’t really rate it anywhere but in terms of immersion for a game it’s probably one of the best i’ve played
i feel like it being on roblox holds it back a bit (dependent on roblox’s servers especially where optimization is concerned - i liked the dynamic moving npcs in wom but get why they’re gone now - content rules, me personally i don’t like lua, etc) but it trades off in making it really accessible
you’ve always got people bitching about x buffs and y nerfs but that really goes to show vetex made a game that people are invested in
i personally haven’t really played it in months but often i open up the forums just to talk about it or read what other people are doing - i agree where the kingdoms update is gonna give a lot more replayability and i can’t wait for it to come out
you too keep your eyes peeled for my tickling talons
immersive how?
when i was brand new to the game it felt really immersive, after playing for hundreds of hours its not really that immersive anymore, not that it diminishes the game in any way
8/10 due to the fact that I don’t pvp and focus more on PVE Stuff and storyline, lore
