Yeah i have no idea what the monks do there other then just being props. At least some NPC’s at the town nearby could speak about them, and a side quest regarding them would be nice to have.
To be honest that’s kind of fitting, out of sight, out of mind, I mean having a temple on the mountain is secluded in an already seclusive area of sameria so them being silent makes sense. These are monks after all.
well I did some calculations on the size of sameria is roughly half the size of Monaco, thats the world’s 2nd smallest country with a pop of 38k, so it makes sense that they have 15k as a population especially with the poor conditions they are living in as they literally get hit by hurricanes on the daily and have literally crazy dense populations.
Ok,they get hit with tons of natural disasters, sure, but revanna doesn’t suffer from the same issue and still has the same population.
Also, try comparing a nation with 17th century- 18th century timeframe, as that is roughly the tech level where AO takes place in.
There are only 2 conclusions.
Either they have these small populations is because space is so limited that it’s impossible to get more to consolidate, in which case, why hasn’t revanna gone ahead and colonize shell island already to farm more stuff to feed their population?
Or
Someone didn’t do much thought in how, we the player, can have a naval force of our own rivaling the populations of these nations ALONE. But sure let’s say that’s non canon and stick with the plot. Even then, I find it hard that there are tons of professions adequately staffed when we are still stuck with sustenance farming. Is the navy of these nations about 2 thousand people, that’s a pretty small fleet even in classical and european medieval standards.

ravenna only has a civilian population of like 10k how the hell are they able to sustain an army of almost 5k, they would not be able to afford that
