it doesnât, the new lore changes have replaced external/experimental curses, so in the new lore Durza doesnt use the absorption curse, he uses the shitty absorption âblessingâ so

Blessings are basically just any non-elemental curse
For now theyâre just repackaged experimental curses i.e. a unique power granted to a person. This lore change hasnât been added to the lore doc yet (it still talks about experimental curses), probably cause they arenât important yet as Vetex mentioned

okay not the exact same way but they are still just experimental curses renamed
theyre like 2 sides of the same coin, elemental curses are chaos energy because they reflect magics whereas blessings are creation energy because they reflect spirit energy
blessings were also testing whether or not the gods should give sea curses to humans (hence the original name, experimental curses) or whether they should keep them to themselves so yeah they have some difference like users cant shift into the form of their curse (acheron canât become pure absorption energy) because its spirit magic and doesnât alter the persons body/personality
presumably they also could still use magic to its fullest extent and swim in sea water post acheron using world decimating explosion
however they do grant immortality still and they do presumably shoot off when the user dies (if they die at least since the lazarus blessing exists) but we havenât really heard much about them in that regard so that could be retconned like many other things in lore
all of that is headcanon, none of that is a source nor proof of your point
check the sources on the fandom, im going off previous lore from experimental curses (all of those sources are either gone or like a decade old atp) and the statements vetex have said along with educated guessing from other things in lore
