if you make one file and its 1st gen at the release of the game and another file afew updates later than would that newly created file be first gen or a different gen

The gen depends on whether you’ve played AA and WoM and at which stage (like open test 1, beta etc) before AO… gen 4 i think is simply playing WoM before it was revamped into AO… the file doesn’t matter only the account does…

It’s very simple, it depends on what badge the players has, prioritizing the older ones.
Played Online Fighting = 1st gen
Played Arcane Adventures’s Paid Beta = 2nd gen
Played World Of Magic’s Open Tests (any of the four) = 3rd gen
Played World Of Magic = 4th gen
Played Arcane Odyssey = 5th gen (newgen)
