if you want a valid reason, could just say that he’s still injured from his fight with Morden ( man was fighting with the Death Curse holder, im not supirsed if he lost an arm permanently or so )
I don’t think elemental curse users can lose limbs permanently (at least inferno cant)

ig it depends on how curses work exactly, we havent see curse users with elements opposites to each other fought so we dont know if it’s possible to damage them permanently

We defeated a general who has killed curse users, someone with the inherited power of an ancient curse, and morden/Iris were able to hold off against Julian.
