Erm…sea curses are cubes 
accounting for the fact that half of it normally is underwater, its appearance matching up to the half that is above water and the times ive seen the event from the bronze sea, it matches up pretty well.

its actually just the dark sea skybox which follows you around, its a giant circle around you. some people have seen it when they climb up an insanely high island or when getting flung
no clue why its visible in the bronze sea, but its in the right direction
