The magma vfx change was to make it actually fightable without blinding you because it’s not supposed to be a blinding magic

If by proxy it means that Magma’s visuals get attention, I’m here for it.

my main complaint is how vetex often skips very simple numbers changes that would help balancing so much for no reason in particular

like dawg if they’re so boring tell xxael or galaga to do them

archrono mentioned in his little ramble that you’re better off making a fresh slot, this only takes ~5-6 hours of playtime (considerably less than the time most people spend looking for hecate essence), you guys are seeing hecate essence as the lazy way out of a good alternative to making a new slot

there’s nothing wrong with making a new slot, unless you’re after something like preserving a title or a certain stat, in which case i’d argue you’re more than competent enough to waste your time finding a hecate essence, there’s nothing wrong with mustering up a new slot and playing the game for a short period of time to get where you left off

5mil galleon inventory mfs:
Item transfering requiring an alt:
Elysium being file based:

it isnt anymore??? LMAO

unless you’re playing on some ancient caveman tech, or have zero friends, there’s no problem present

nobody mentioned the need to delete a file, you can keep your possessions on another slot if you so desire

Then why do we even need Hecate essence for?

For an “easier” way… or if you want to keep something file-specific

Isnt it literally supposed to be that way? Interchange pots exist to do it for literally everything but your first magic so why should reseting your magic be 100x harder? Also youre quite literally proving his point here. If making a new file is faster than looking for an essence then whats the point of an essence :sob:. Its supposed to be a viable alternative to lvling up a new file. Especially if you want a completely max file with good (ship) gear, good deckhands, max cooking, brewing and jewelcrafting etc.

Even just ignoring the time spent looking for it, it also just isnt fun at all. Vetex vetoing certain changes to it that are literally QoL changes makes that fact even worse. But tbf im not surprised with that cuz many necessary QoL things that shouldve been added soon after release, or at least a while ago, still havent been added. Things like npcs blocking mid attacks, extreme uncounterable darkness in certain areas, waves & water poisoning in the ds, islands with ice (frostmill, whitesummit) casually blinding people, and npcs being able to movestack if theyre fighting multiple people (been a thing since wom :skull::skull:) shouldve been fixed ages ago

True, but if possible most people would like to save said 5-6 hours to do smth they enjoy more, like actually already playing with the build they want. Or just playing on a diff file, or even just not playing ao at all

This is actually wild. So if you only want to reset your magic but still want to preserve the rest of your hard work on your file then you should be fine with searching for 10+ hours for an essence? Even if said searching is genuinely a horrible experience? Sure you may be competent enough, but that doesnt mean that you should be forced to torture yourself :sob:

Here’s my take on it. Updates just need to pushed out quicker. Unpopular take but the game has plenty of replayable content in it already. And yes, while they aren’t the most fun it is still content. Who is to say you guys wont all complain again when the bosses for full release are all completed and theres nothing else to do. The whole thing is that a game like this in its current state isnt meant for 500 hour gameplay. Its meant for 100, 200, even maybe 300 hours. And thats if you want to consider ALL of the content inside of the game being 100%.

I know monthly is a bit of a strain on vetex. But I know for a fact that past full release, with the team that he has now, he can DEFINITELY pull off a bimonthly schedule and has no excuse otherwise not to do so. Its not the most frequent schedule in the world but I’ll take 6 updates a year over the 2, 3, or 4, we are getting now.

Balancing: Honestly, I feel things in this game need to be tested better. But now that we have actual testers that were hired that actually play the game regularly like RaptorCaptain or Wiszpy. I feel like things will be MUCH better tested going forward. Cant really complain here, you just need the rest of it to play out.

We somehow got no monthly updates :sob:

get lucky or get grinding :man_shrugging:

spend 5-6 hours to get to somewhere where they’ll enjoy something more*

ya

Wasn’t the lack of content because vetex spent a majority of it working on kingdom alignment and then decided he actually didn’t want to put that in game for awhile?

Obviously less time means less content but I’d still take bimonthly qol and not leaving the game in balancing hell for half a year over what we have now

Youre actually tripping bro :sob::sob:

hecate could maybe be justifiable if you didn’t have to spend that 5-6 hours in one sitting.

like … i know people who this literally makes the game completely inaccessible for them because they physically can’t do that. and honestly, i can’t either. most of us are high school students, we all have homework to do, and even on weekends, we have better things with our time to be doing than searching for this bs.

i don’t like needlessly taking shots at vetex, but this is a hill i will die on - changing your magic is way too fucking tedious (more tedious than hard!), and some of this shit cannot wait 7 months.
