In my eyes, this mostly boils down to a lack of transparency and discussion regarding vetex’s vision of AO as its director/designer.
We essentially are a bunch of play&bug testers trying to provide feedback so that this early access title culls down its flaw, but it feels like we aren’t listened across a wide variety of subjects.
As for issues regarding the balance of AO, it irks me a bit that it isn’t vetex that’s taking his time to think about it since it’s entirely dependent on how he wants the combat to feel like, but if he willfully delegated this to another entity, then it’s kind of silly that he doesn’t listen to it.
We essentially are in the situation that “feels like a dictatorship” according to this video
I actually did split up my Hecate searches, into 3 hour sessions over 4 days
It’s just insane that I have to sit down in a game to spend that long without any real rewards, especially since if I actually looted the islands I would have spent way longer and probably have died more.
I’ve considered discussing how bad of a timesink this is but since you’ve already shown you disagree with my opinion I feel no need to attempt to persuade you
Yes ok so I can put it off and split it up but at some point I’ll have to get it done, I dont have 10 hours to waste on this shit in a week (keep in mind that I am a human and have other things I have to do out just my 60 hours spent on work and school)
64arc needs to keep in mind that it takes like 40 minutes to get to the far reaches at least so it’s more efficient to take 3 hours than 1 hour cause then you spend 140 minutes actually in the far reaches as opposed to 20
Fun fact.
Allegedly…From what i’ve heard…It may or may not be correct…

Most testers do the pvp testing. So like…You know how cedar has 2 bugs? One about gravel block and other about destruction of the tunle (i am not eleborating, go figure ), well, apperently noone knew about it unitll recently.
Or like…Did noone from the testing team thought…that perhaps…LOS check in weirdly destruction-built Fort Castrumn can be an issue?
Im not saying anything with 100%, just saying things are tested to be working, without much details. So i will not be surprisd if its even worse for vetex.
‘it works? Okay, i’ll leave it as is’
I don’t have much to add to this—most of my thoughts have already been said—but what I really would’ve liked for the game was some better customization of the player. Namely in meaningful choices you can make, as right now your build really just happens to be what half-decent armor pieces you’ve scavenged, and what scrolls you happened to stumble across.
