State of AO Rant

more than that jeez :sob:

Those are the worst offenders, though.

I prefer visuals being changed to be more combat-friendly over making ones that don’t look as good be improved.

true, also fix explosion
it looks like hot ass with size mage the way it takes up the whole screen like a baked potato pops in a microwave

I guess it’s not a bad thing for combat-friendly, it can be balanced, but if I’m going to be spending so much time looking at this magic, I want it to look stunning.

Also, if you really want to make them more combat-friendly, push for Crystal and Ash to be more transparent, like they realistically would be. They both currently look the worst in my opinion.

i dont really fight so i just prefer what looks coolest

I use magma’s dodge reflex once and suddenly I can’t see anything for the next three seconds.

hmm good idea I’ll go see what that looks like

Ironically enough, it looks worse at high size due to how animated particles take up less image space while remaining within the same 1024x1024px boundaries.

I mean, it’s an explosion, how high-definition does it need to be?

At a definition high enough for its pixels to not be seen as easily…

this is a 100 size charged sphere explosion btw

Okay, well when you pause it, it becomes a bit more obvious.
Normally it’d be in motion.

  • They last long enough for you to perceive it
  • It very much is visible due to how much of a blurry mess they are

I just see glowy smoke blowing up in my face.

I think I prefer the old Explosion VFX

It’s actually more of a “amazing sequel, but it didn’t beat the first original.”

I wouldn’t want Portal 2 to be more like Portal 1, because Portal 2 is amazing, and we wouldn’t have it as it is now without some deviations from the original.

As such, I wouldn’t want new vitality gone just because I love old vitality.

ive been concerned about AO for a while but ive been optimistic about it

i hate saying or seeing people say “this game is COOKED!” to literally every single little grievance they have (to these people please take a break from the entire internet if youre acting like this). You can criticize AO without all that, which is what you did here which is good

my biggest issue with AO as of now is the “quantity of quality” of new content

we have an unbelievable amount of stuff to do in this game, though much of it gives the same or similar rewards to everything else. I think having multiple options for acquiring the same stuff is good to an extent, but the majority of the game gives you the same or very similar things

I hope with full release and afterwards adds some more unique stuff to go with different aspects of the game. Unique treasure chart items were a start in the empires update, but I think we could do a lot more than just that. The Dark Sea especially has a ton of possibilies for more unique content (with unique/special rewards, ex. that dragonblood ritual on the trello could be a lot more than just a stat boost)

The problem is there’s like 300+ bugs (multiple gamebreaking ones) that haven’t been fixed for months or even YEARS, same with QoL issues, content, pvp, pve and everything
It’s not “little grievances”
