It’ll have to go at some point or another if we want to mitigate the current inflation
Even if you’ve been bleeding out for several days, it’s still a good idea to try and close that wound

i think this will make people who abused the fleet in the first days richer than before
and newbies (if they even exists) more poor
and this is killing seasonal accesories value too lmao
never allow vetex step in a bank
my only tonken to get anything from trade is lost knowledge books bc their price will always go up ![]()

This scenario happens only in early game, and there you have lots of ways to replenish cash quickly, since the number you’d consider “enough” back then is very low. Just a few opened sealed chests, some sold fish or just getting lucky with a sunken ship’s cargo will get you solid drachma. I don’t understand why do you point this as a reason to keep fleets as a drachma source
I’d much rather not return to those days too. Solving the fleets’ dilemma is just that confusing. I told yall I won’t be standing too much on what I wrote here, as opposed to my other suggestions.
If you get stabbed, it’ll bleed and hurt, but when you remove the knife from the wound, it will bleed and hurt even more, but the wound now will have a chance to close and heal.
Very true. Doubt the solution for that exists tbh.
Ok but what’s the real dilemma, what about inflation is so bad that it warrants solving it at any cost even when the insane deflation that would result would harm the economy vastly more than what fleets did
Sneaky players with a bunch of emergency Not-Claimed items they sold on the auction, redeeming their wealth after the update for one zillion dollars, sky-rocketing back to their gold pile.
We have reinvented oligarchs.
Also this would harm poor lv175 players with barely enough for a brig
I was talking about ships only as an example, and there are many other money sinks like buying a brig, disenchanting etc.
I checked the trello card and it seems our entire argument was pretty pointless as vetex already considered cutting off fleets’ currency 2 years ago ![]()
Yep, yet another problem into the pile of those that don’t really have a solution, I’m powerless here
Buying a brig and disenchanting aren’t permanent money sinks
honestly the fact that vetex managed to RNG all the fun out of dark sea runs in the name of “realism” or whatever is kinda sad. I really dont blame people for saying screw it and just farming it via fleets.
he had gold in a really cool idea but it was kind of wasted on making it “difficult” which just make it annoying and unfair to have tornados spawn on you and blast you from a mile away.
i get the idea, but the darksea is plenty difficult. Originally I had intent on eventually finding an essence but now with all the crap you have to deal with its just not worth the effort anymore.
why waste time with all that nonsense that gets in the way of a really fun gameplay loop. I can just automatically have a good run with strong charting and lose because of broken atlantian brigs, a random forest spawning, or a hurricane spawning in my zipcode and literally ripping my boat a new one.
i have to question why he felt the need to do this, if he wanted to prep it for end game, add this crap when we have an end game. Or expand the tiers of the dark sea as players pass major milestones of power when its suitable. its not like theres a lore reason for the different tiers.
I’m not sure about nerfing fleets so hard. Firstly we gotta remember that maxing out a fleet takes a lot of time, like over 50 hours at least, so dedicated players should be rewarded for it. Secondly, fleets offer solo players a chance at competing against guild players on the auction. Personally I like how fleets make annoying aspects of the game easier (such as reagents gathering + dark sea).
I think the Exploring suggestion is good, and I’d also like to add treasure charts to the loot pool just to encourage more gameplay instead of AFK. Changing fishing to Hunting makes sense, but i think at max level it should also give gemscaled & legendary fish because nobody wants to waste time leveing up fishing. Harvesting feels fine as it is. Trading should honestly not have any loot pool and just give drachma + your new fleet currency, since sealed chests give scrolls and cannonballs anyways. Conquest cannot be removed because dark sea is just such a pain in its current state, but I would very much like to see your suggestions on how to make the dark sea more fun and fair.
I do agree with sharing fleets across all save files though, and the raven should definitely be an earlier unlock for the reasons you mentioned. I also like the idea of a fleet shop for cosmetics.
There is, actually. The pollution is more concentrated, the closer you are to its source - the Epicenter. As for i5 layer - yeah, that one doesn’t have a lore reason behind its existence, only gameplay purposes
Yeah, you get the shop with access to a lot of items, plus the tasks themselves can earn you profit.
Why is this important? I seem to function without the auction just fine.
Those will have to link to a part on an island, I doubt adding charts as a fleet loot will work code-wise. I’m no expert in this, however, maybe we can pull out something like this, I don’t know.
The fish you get from the task doesn’t increase your Fishing profession, and you get legendary scales from Harvesting anyway.
Nah, its loot pool is fine as is, except the t2 scrolls, ofc.
Agree, therefore it should only be removed after the Dark Sea is made more fair.
I agree, nowadays, players cannot interact with the market anyhow due to the heavily inflated prices, making the fleets a huge neccessity to set up in each slot, as without them one will never be rich.
Also funny thing, when planning fleets, Vetex planned to give them a seperate currency, but for some reason, it wasn’t done in the end.
also remember that AO’s fleet system is based off of AC Black Flag, which already had a separate fleet currency itself
Necrobumping a 3 day-old suggestion just for that? Huh, aight
Suggestions last 7 days now, not a necro
This was a change? Huh, good to know. 3 was kinda short.
Even weirder then, that the devs didn’t go for separate currency from the start.
Yeah this is exactly why we can’t really get rid of fleets the way they are unless drachma and literally every single item that might be invested in wiped (not happening).
I think it’s better if they adjust prices of any post-Nimbus content to current income and then they can balance around it
Or add some kind of drachma sinks to the game that we would use more, though i’m sure bigger ships will fix that eventually due to more hp pool and bigger repair prices but that might take a while.
