- Player’s Pokemon sprite shows Squirtle, but

- The Squirtle is named ZUBAT; being in all caps suggest it is not nicknamed (or lazily-named).

- The text box below it shows that it’s named CHARMANDER.
- Squirtle/Zubat/Charmander’s infobox lacks a gender marker. None of those Pokemon are genderless in-game, and apparently gender non-conforming Pokemon is too much to ask for.
- Squirtle/Zubat/Charmander is shown using Razor Leaf, a move none of those Pokemon can learn.

- The move animation being shown is either Thunder or Shock Wave, which is also a move none of those Pokemon can learn.

- The animation specifically also shows a lightning bolt without the surrounding screen being darkened; both Thunder and Shock Wave have the screen darken while lightning is on-screen.
- The enemy Pokemon, Rhyhorn, is part Ground-Type, and is immune to Electric-Type attacks. Assuming the attack is supposed to be Electric-Type, the attack animation would not play, with text at the bottom reading “It doesn’t affect RHYHORN/ABRA…”
- The enemy infobox shows that the Rhyhorn is named ABRA. Unlike with the Player’s Pokemon, Rhyhorn cannot be nicknamed in this screenshot, since enemy Pokemon nicknames are not shown outside of Link Battles.
- This cannot be a screenshot of a Link Battle, as it uses floor sprites corresponding to battles entered while using Surf in the overworld.
- Rhyhorn and Abra cannot be encountered in the wild while surfing, and no trainers in any Gen III game both have a Rhyhorn and are found while Surfing.
- There is no way for you to find a wild Pokemon at such a low level while surfing specifically. You also don’t even get access to Surf until the mid-game, and both Pokemon’s levels suggest the Player doesn’t even have the first gym badge.
