i generally disagree with hunger/thirst/sleep in wom/ao since it’s not a survival game (so im interested in how consumption will be implemented and how it will affect things)
but even disregarding my opinion this is a bad idea.
because (my points presented chronologically)
- players don’t really keep track of in-game time. it doesn’t benefit them (yet?). additionally players should not have long-term drawbacks for an easily achievable act such as eating.
- there is no benefit in punishing players for overeating. the game does not revolve around food consumption, therefore the game should not become less enjoyable because of it.
- if this were implemented as a small fun mechanic for friends, then it should not affect gameplay after the moment is over. in some cases the effects may last longer (to emphasize the joke), but since fighting is an important part of the game and moving quickly is an important part of fighting having long-lasting affects is a terrible idea.
- if the feature only happens when players specifically want it to, then it is assumed they are aware of what will occur or are prepared for what will occur. thus it doesn’t make sense to justify the feature as a punishment.
- if the affects of overeating are so miniscule that they are barely noticeable then there is no point in adding it, and there’s no point in punishing players
the idea is realistic, yes
but it doesn’t make the game more enjoyable for enough players–especially players who play solo
it’s like requiring players to sleep and go afk for an in-game night
