The thing is that YouTubers have to go with the flow and adapt to the current trends. Most of the Minecraft YouTubers that were popular 7 years ago (Stampy, SkyDoesMinecraft, DanTDM) didn’t roll with the flow and now they’re just husks of of their original popularity.
DanTDM actually had it better because he played multiple games and could use them for content whenever Minecraft died. But people like Squid didn’t change fast enough and although he plays popular games, he still doesnt get many views.
The best example I can think of is Ssundee, who’s still going very strong despite him being as old as Team Crafted. Even when going silent for months, he still returns and stays on top because he started making videos of Fortnite when it was still popular, then Minecraft came back and he altered accordingly. Now he makes Among Us videos and that shows how aware he is of the trends and how to keep himself relevant.
