What are the best and worst parts of the current story?

in my opinion the first part of the game up to when you beat iris is such a good hook and it’s the part of the story i think most fondly about
the level locks suck but in my opinion some of the more complicated quests feel weirdly inserted like the escape from fort talos, where you’re basically just running around in random directions hoping you make it back to where u came from (which isnt that obvious to begin with)
also if you fail to sink the ravenna sailboat im pretty sure its almost a softlock unless the bronze legion bugs out and forgets to chase you because no way in hell are you sinking that ship if your ship has like 200 hp and is slower than a turtle

Good:

  • Fun storyline to turn your brain off to when you play for your first time
  • The boss fights truly feel powerful when youre doing them for the first time
  • Ravenna storyline is actually kinda fleshed out and nice, although most find it a drag after their first file
  • Unlike WoM, an actual story exists :scream:
  • Small side quest encounters and NPC dialogue occasionally foreshadow future lore which I find very interesting

Bad:

  • Order bosses are randomly thrown in so there is no intense build up, nobody knew about Argos and Calvus, although the king of Ravenna being an order member was obvious. Simply no build up exists.
  • Trait feature feels like its been added only during Elius fight arc and then forgotten entirely, although we didn’t have much of a time frame for a new trait anyway
  • Several islands can be entirely avoided or are given no explanation to at all during the story, essentially vetex wants you to rely on side quests to explore them which I don’t agree with. I mean we could at least get a small arc in Palo town before stepstones
  • Filler lore arcs drag on too much without a skip option for people who already went through them
  • Stepstone arc is a complete drag, boils down to bandit beater then a boss fight. If only there were more sky islands and a more serious investigation into the order there

This is a critique of the STORY, so heres ky opinion:

Good Stuff

-the idea of slowly finding out the Barons and High Lord’s identities are cool, but i wish it was less obvious and might be a bit misleading at times

-The amount of lore for this game is insane and very well done

-Ravenna is a great story location. Each town is unique and a lotta stuff happens. The Bronze Legion is very cool

-In concept, some aspects are theortically very cool, such as the Myriad, stealthing in Fort Talos, the cult of greenwish, etc

bad stuff

-Neviro feels purposeless. He has zero interaction with the MC, and he leaves to return to Ravenna. What a waste, at least Edward helped fend off soldiers during thr prison break.

-the pacing of the story is unstable.

-despite their best efforts, theres some logic problem. Such as “why would a king build a concentration camp RIGHT UNDER HIS CASTLE?” or “why would people trust a random hobo that is homeless and definely not trustworthy?” or “why would the random hobo trust a Ravenna Privateer of all people?”

-Theres also plotholes, many of them, but most are “we will explain it later”

fort talos “stealth”

Best:
Fort Talos sneaking
Tiberia, and suddenly the most powerful kingdom in the sea knows who we are and is after us. It was the first time I actually felt like my actions might start to matter.
Julien nuking us (hmm curse users are actually strong and I am not an invincible protagonist.)
Seeing Edward in the cutscene- (YO MY EARLIER SIDEQUESTS MATTERED!)
Morden vs Julien (MY BOI’S CURSED NOW, AVENGE ME BROTHER)
Escaping Ravenna (I actually had a blast with the sailboat mission xD I had a caravel and it felt like a Pirate of the Caribbean movie to me, weaving through the massive warships, taking heavy damage, ramming the sailboat, then limping to Windrow with the Bronze Fleet in pursuit.)
Talking to Ulricus and realizing that not all Ravennans are working for the Order and that some of them are just obliviously trying to keep things in order. Also I was kinda guilty for being Ruthless, killing both of his kids, and participating in the rise of the privateer dude as a corsair.

Worst:
The part where we randomly decided to chase the crazy redhead to the sky islands.
Also, because there was 0 Ravenna presence at Frostmill other than some random flags, I had no idea who they were culture-wise or why I should care. If there had been like some Legionaire NPCs guarding the docks that gave me a rundown I would have been a bit more invested.
Neviro seemed like a random NPC at first, and I didn’t recognize him when he showed up in the jailbreak cutscene, any more than if Mayor Owen or Hallfrid had showed up in full Titanium Gear. I might have even recognized Owen xD.
Carina randomly showing up. Though to be fair, a criminal on the run is usually not aware of the specific hunters after them. We knew the Bronze Legion + Order would be after us, and I do like how she has a motivation to fight us. I just wish there had been slightly more of a buildup rather than “We go here to hide! Oh no random new character was waiting for us! Kill them immediately!”
Escaping Ravenna’s mine and being inside the castle right next to Calvus’s throne room. I had already visited Shell’s coal mine, which was outside near the edge of the town, and it actually took me a long time afterwards to figure out that the Eternal Mines were IN Ravenna Castello. It also just doesn’t make much sense.
Also, randomly teleporting outside the castle to the mountain when it was time to run away. I wish that the throne room wall was collapsed behind us or something to explain how we got out.

What can i say, git gud

I think Arish is balanced and does deserve an xp buff, but Dame and Ferminus needs a HARD nerf, Ferminus has aimbot and WAY too much damage, while Dame has too much hp. The xp isnt even worth it, you could just run around and get tomatoes for double that xp

the two main problems of him is the lag his aura can causes and the fact that theres no cooldown at all to his healing

the first one is situational but the second one can easily be removed by simply give it a cooldown ( maybe 15-30s or something ) and he’ll actually be just challenging enough for the average player

theres also the fact that he can just dash off the island and die ig :skull:

oh shut the fuck up there is no way you actually thought arish’s fight was easy on your first time you actual mossballed dick for brains

also having the GALL to tell me to get good when I’m pretty sure you main an explosion mage is just insane.

ngl Dame is pretty alright as is.

Flare and I used her to farm to max lvl near endgame one time, though her AI is pretty weird I must admit

I’ve… only used fermius to fight carina for me

Fun fact, i did’nt die on a single boss my first time playing.

AND IT WAS WITHOUT BLOCKING

Most of my death were from drowning or npcs just swarming me.

yeah I wonder why…

not sure how showing you’re a hypocrite is helping your case :skull:

I mean…Its DS update stats, and i was’nt even using my WOM gear when i was first-timing Calvus
:person_shrugging:

you’re acting like that’s an achievement when you use a class where you literally don’t need to aim

I’m willing to bet you just spammed pulsar.

Blast and beam spamming. WOM’s habbit die hard

And my guy, damn, you surely do have something against mages, while they are 2nd weakest magic class (but strongest pure builds, yeah)

I really don’t actually have an issue with (most) mages it’s just you told me to “git gud” but you use the most braindead build in the game with 200+ size :moyai:

The only mage I have an issue with is the abomination called a metal/magma glass cannon, which is just a number problem of it’s own tbh.

But its true, outside of Calvus and Elius, other bossess are pretty easy, even on first try. (insert here people who die on Shura)

Wait till he hears that im explosion-ash user with placed hammer explosion

Yes
And even if he doesn’t he’s a little sissy baby that just warps around you and spams giant high damaging hitboxes to kill you out of your own rage

congratulations.

Color me suprised, but i am suprised by the fact that people have trouble with this quest, no offense, but it literally tells you with a marker on where to shoot, i know there are Ketches chasing you, but you can outmanuever them by drifting around them, most of the time i do the quest the intended way:Bomb the ship and then jump on the Ravenna dudes, but i have now started to jump on the crew to speedrun the quest.

Dame dosen’t have alot of HP, she just has grab aimbot, she literally has some guaranteed chance to grab me with her stupid-ass dual guns.

Graphics Quality settings:

If you fight Ellius with 7+ graphics quality…then i don’t know why would you do this.

Chill bro it’s just a game.

Touch Grass :cold_sweat: .
