My music taste is between rock and metal, and pretty much all bands I’m into currently are prog. To dumb it down, prog music is “progressive”, in a way that musicians love experimenting with less common musical conpositions in order to achieve unique sounds. Stuff like odd time signatures, “I don’t know the name of this chord and I don’t care” (Steven Wilson quote), a lot of complex sound designs and ambient noise.

Steven Wilson
The genius behind Porcupine Tree. He also has a pretty good solo career with a new upcoming record which I’m gonna hear live in May. There’s so much to say about this guy but I’ll keep it simple
Gavin Harrison
Very talented drummer that played in a lot of my favorite bands, including The Pineapple Thief, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson and also worked as a paid session drummer on records like Blood by OSI
Kevin Moore
He used to be in Dream Theater (I don’t really listen to them because I don’t like their vocalist lol). He’s a keyboardist. He made two musical projects that I’ve really enjoyed over the past weeks, Chroma Key and OSI.
Mikael Åkerfeldt
He does more metal. He is the frontman of Opeth and he has an amazing voice. He also worked on a bunch of stuff from other artists that I like, including a collab between him and Steven (Storm Corrosion)
I could list more but these are just the musicians that I’ve been very interested in lately.
These people inspired me to begin my own musical journey and I’ve started playing bass
