What weapon type you think dragon weapons will be?

Retconned by what exactly? I haven’t seen anything new about arcanium so I can’t be sure.

by vetex changing the lore every goddamn update

Oh yeah… I forgot about that. Unless then, magic dragons just drop normal weapons that have status effects like the Poison Tooth Dagger does

I expect a new claws weapon type from those dragons. We had enough greatswords in FR, we don’t need more

Where tho

what if they DON’T drop weapons, though?

Dragonscale armor is still a good substitute :folded_hands:

sea monsters can drop weapons but it’d be funny if they could drop them too for whatever reason

full release really clarified rather than changed the existing lore.

Also if it’s actually in game and not in the lore doc (like the info being given here. It is much more solid and less likely to change)

How large do you expect the dragons to be compared to the weapon size?

arcanium dragonscale weapon set

warlord dragonbone weapon set

warrior dragon talon/fang weapon set

Tl:dr - You can forge steel using bones in real life, and since Arcanium is iron, you can likely forge steel with it using any sort of carbon, but dragon bone specifically could cause interesting magic channelling effects. Also this alloy of Arcanium and dragon bone should be called dragon-steel.

Best compromise for how dragon weapons could channel magic would be dragon forged steel, or dragon steel if you will. Basically during the time the Nordic peoples were out viking, remember viking was a profession, not a group, they had access to Roman steel blades which had traveled all across Europe after the empire’s collapse. Now the romans had developed scientific ratios, using carbon from bones and such, and treated the process of forging steel like a religious ritual.

Now the Norse didn’t have the full knowledge of everything that went into the process of Roman, steel, but they did know the Romans would sacrifice an animal and pray to their gods. This led the Norse to begin forcing their iron swords with animal bones, most often ram bones, and due to the carbon content it did produce a highly variable but viable form of steel, (Information obtained from this video by Sellsword Arts on YouTube.)

So back to Arcane Odyssey, Arcanium, technically isn’t an alloy when you think about it, at least not a traditional one, since Iron and sodium alloys don’t really exist. What’s more likely happening is that the same conductive property which allows the salt to retain so much magical energy is being transferred to the iron (similar to how magic conductivity appeared in seasalt after Acheron’s Fracturing blast,) rather than the salt itself mixing with the iron molecules. This means that while the iron’s conductivity is changed, its molecular structure is not, and it could like still bond with carbon to form an Arcanium steel.

Thus we arrive at the main point, dragon-steel (legally distinct from Brandon Sanderson’s Dragonsteel,) an alloy of Arcanium and the bones of dragons. This could –depending on the forging process, and whether or not Dragon bones already channel magic– result in either incredibly high quality Arcanium tools able to channel magic like no other with durability and sharpness to rival even the armory of Ares, or result in tools similar to Apotheosis where the weapon is so steeped in magic it retains its charge eons after it last charge. I personally think, given how we know extended magical use can warp natural features, that weapons forged with ancient dragon’s bones would result in a weapon like the latter description.

In conclusion, dragon-steel would be a very cool concept, and I would love to have some way to interactively forge it… so yeah.
