im not pvper, and i frequently get ganked

idk about you, but max size mages, max attack speed warlocks and worst of all: grab moves stunning you in the ground doesnt sound like strategy to me

How a pvp lasts 30-45 second? That means they dont how to parry/block and move. For example, if you just parry 5 times that pvp going to exceed 1 minute very easily. Also it is the community that is outraged when the airstalling was nerfed. You are correct about savants though, it recalls me the days of good ol’ chromalux 
This is a harder question than meets the eye - I main purple lightning myself, but there’s some factors we have to consider when we determine the “best lightning variant”.
Our first factor has to be - does it match what we’re running? For instance, anyone with more than half a brain would rather run Yellow Lightning with Thermo Fist instead of Blue or Purple, whereas you would rather run Blue or Purple instead of Yellow on a Conjurer. If you’re on a mage with Water as a second magic, then Yellow Lightning is a no-go, if you have Glass as a second magic, then Blue and Yellow both look horrid in combination, if your second magic is Magma, you better not be running Blue Lightning. The same goes for various other fighting styles, Iron Leg & Sailor Fist look best with Blue Lightning.
Our second factor is the colour itself - this one is obviously a landslide for both Blue & Purple in joint 1st, because of how in most cases Yellow Lightning looks visually displeasing unless in combination with something appropriate (e.g. my yellow lightning paladin w/ merciful).
So, what is my conclusion?
Objectively, it’s Blue.
In my head, I think it’s Purple.

I don’t play AO(I did for like 2 weekends just to finish the event and that was it)
then how did you see at least 10 fights that lasted over an hour
so we now have the holy Trinity of lightning conjurers, onion, 64arc, and electricboi.

you have a point here, I will always prefer yellow lightning most but it does get outperformed in a few areas.

before you get to the final boss, metal conj (imo i would really like to see a steel-strengthened ravenna war shield)
