I have an autistic brother and i have quite some issues with him (all unrelated to his condition), that doesn’t mean I go around using the term as an insult. When you say “not every autistic person is the same”, that applies to anything, it’s like saying “stupid white boy” and then backing up and saying “not every white person is the same bro”, of course my example is very uncommon compared to using autistic as an insult but it fits the same agenda.
