Why you should (subjective) (Mods close topic)

i was trying to say that there would barely be if not no lost/ancient magics on release.

There arent gonna be any apart from the ones npcs have.

still trading whatever Vastira becomes for a scorch magic scroll :triumph:

if you can get someone to accept that trade then maybe my dreams of owning inferno might become real

I mean you could always just trade for the one you want, almost all of them are desired by players.

Also this topic is stupid, not gonna enjoy the game less just cause I’m gonna need to wait a while for slash magic. Also if I play on release I got more time to collect lost spells :smiling_imp:

I’d probably play on release for about 5 minutes and then wait a week to play just so my potato laptop could survive

This reason is not good at all. If vetex actually decided to take his time and make all the magics the game will take even longer. Lets say, about 6+ months because there are over 50+ magics with many varieties. Also, did you forget about the weapons? The weapons already seem fun and we are given 21 magics yet you gave a pretty bad reason saying that lost/ancient magics won’t be added and you shouldn’t play. If you don’t play you’re missing out on the best benefits and once lost/ancient magics come out you’ll have a harder time trying to obtain because you won’t have any idea of how to play the game nor find things fast.

So this reason is honesty pretty bad just because lost/ancient magics won’t come out when you have many weapons to choose from and 21 magics to choose from. Also we don’t need building on the first update. Probably those who only want protection and don’t wanna pvp to claim islands.

Just be sure to read the trello and the development update. (Building high chance will probably be on the first update of Arcane Odyssey, image had vetex with building placement on)

Also, who told you that ancient/lost magics won’t be added? Because what really confuses me is how Iris has a lost magic called Flare. Probably only added that magic and not the other magics with the scrolls. But fr, definitely play Arcane Odyssey on release if you wanna learn more about the game. (Weapon attacks, other predictions, aiming, islands, secret places, bosses, lore, and more)

On the trello it says you would need around 300 points in magic to use a lost magics, so we can only assume they wont be added because it would be dumb to add totally new and unique magics to the game with the players not even being able to use them for another couple months.

And Vetex is probably made Flare specifically for Iris so new players to discover what lost/ancient magics are (cause chances are that frostmill will have its storyline based around them).

the game’s been in development for multiple years at this point :skull: this is the worst fucking take i’ve ever heard

He was joking bro

I typed a long reply here and then realized they were joking. :sunglasses:

I sure hope so

Are you familiar with the ‘cutting edge’? I believe it refers to those in a playerbase that stay completely up to date with a game’s current released content so that they’ll always be ready for the content coming in the next update. For AO it would basically mostly be reaching the current max level, being caught up on the storyline, exploring all available content, and if you’re a “meta” player it would include grinding for the current rare in-game items. You get the idea, just the players that wanna complete all available content so that they waste no time getting to the new stuff once the update releases.

I feel like a lot of the forumers here are gonna be dedicated to being part of the cutting edge, especially those who’ve been acquiring all the meta gear and rare drops from WOM to already have them at their disposal once AO finally comes out. Some ppl genuinely enjoy being ahead of the curve and I can see why.

In a game as big as AO, starting the game when it’s been developed up to nigh-endgame content can be a bit overwhelming for new players; so much to do, so much to see. Not to mention, limited time/event items that they may end up missing out on cause they weren’t apart of the playerbase at the time. No such thing as starting a game “late” and there’s no harm in taking at your own pace (the latter is what I mostly intend to do), but there’s definitely benefits in playing the game on release - especially if you’ve already known about it for a while like we have.

In regards to early players not having access to later game content for a long time, well it’s not like waiting to play the game will get you the content faster. If AO releases in September and the lost spell update releases in December, a person that played at release and a person who put off playing until that update drops are still both having to wait 3-4 months for lost spells. In fact like I said earlier the cutting edge player will access it earlier because they’re already a decently high level and are well equipped to take on the update’s new challenges as opposed to a new player who’ll have to go through all the previous content before reaching the “good stuff”.

Whether you’re cutting edge or playing at your own pace, all that matters is that you’re playing the game in a way that makes it most enjoyable to you. This isn’t a critique of people who will wait to play, just highlighting the good parts about playing on release.

TLDR; ppl who plan to play at release and people who wait for the ‘good updates’ to drop will both wait the same amount of time for those updates; the former will just probably be more prepared than the latter.

Wow that was a lot longer than I expected it to be or it needed to be

I just find cutting edge to be a cool concept

Unfortunate news, but AO likely won’t be at the point of nigh-completion (in terms of complete endgame) for multiple months to a few years probably

Complete completion (or near) for AO will take at least 3 years imo
