Not really, there is many ways in AO to stop someone from running and Vetex even added special mechanic for dashes which won’t allow you to use them to run away in combat.
While in WoM sometimes you may run from one side of the map to other side of the map just to kill someone.
0 ways to stop someone from resetting and spawning to wherever the fuck they placed their camp. At least in WoM you’d just spawn back in the region you died. Also in WoM catching up to someone wasn’t the problem at all it’s them resetting and logging and AO makes that 100x times easier despite the 1 min cooldown I often find people slipping away from me more easily then they did in WoM and resetting.
please tell me how much a bigass fucking ocean between ravenna and orthys serves more purpose than randomly spawning bandit camps and mc camps along with chests in WoM when you just walking from Silent Tower to Bell Villiage
AO is a far better and more optimized game than WoM
Which is ironically why I think WoM had much more potential than AO.
Seriously, WoM was just a breeding ground for some of the most interesting concepts the game could’ve faced.
If even a 10th of the stuff promised for the game in the trello got in, it’d be better than the game is now and im NOT kidding.
Some might say the story for WoM didn’t exist, But then again AOs story is shit as well so that doesn’t really negate anything (little character development, bosses that appear just to die, soulless characters, etc)
And better than all else, vetex was actually non secretive with what he showed, and didn’t care about the potential backlash released.
So finding most of the info about WoM was actually easy, and you didn’t need to go through 3 different websites to find an obscure piece of lore vetex forgot to put in his own lorebook.
So. Overall gameplay? AO. No contest.
Potential? WoM.

I never played WoM, but considering AO is based off of WoM with major changes, like adding more diversity in builds for pvp than mage and making a water based world instead of a giant continent, I’d say AO probably wins in all of these. I dunno about ping though.
Trust me. Any issues you have with AOs ping would be multiplied times 10 in wom.
People used to say in other games they were getting “wom ping.” that’s how bad it got.
Oh crap. Well, looks like AO is a big upgrade, most things considered anyways.
I don’t get what that quote has to do with that question but ok?
And besides your not going from Ravenna to Orthyrs more then like twice in all of gameplay
“9/10 players approved this message”
this is pretty true.
To the 4 other people voting on WoM
The total size of the planned WoM map would have made the frontier look like Ravenna… comapred to the entire rest of the bronze sea (ocean included).
(also the FF devs are planning on splitting up each of the major areas into different servers because the map is too big to fit in the game and it has been causing problems for a long time)
ok so.
a player spawning at ironport and a player spawning at new mount olympus would both need to fight the same major bosses and the same enemies to start building up their levels.
from here the game either needs to:
1: Embrace being a walking simulator in a map way too big for its own good and have the bosses super far away from each other because of their individual significance for the plot.
2: The Minotaur and the Exiled (genuinely nobody would remember them after 2 or 3 sets of bosses were added after them, they are only memorable because of how long we were stuck with them)
